I was given permission to colour this drawing of Zymolxis being bound and tickled by living latex.
I put enough effort into shading the latex, I'm out of energy for writing descriptions. Take the artist's:
"Here we have the first victim of what became known as the "Squeaking Caverns"- a massive ecosystem of what can only be described as living latex, clinging to the walls of the maze-like caves. The black latex coats every inch of the cavern's interior- and from anecdotal observation seems to work as one mind to capture and restrain any victims who choose the wrong place to go spelunking.
The cave's known to a few select villains- who figured out they could use it to "take care" of their enemies. Zymolxis happened to be one of them- after crossing the wrong warrior, he found himself gagged and thrown into a deep pit of the rubbery goop. It took mere minutes before he was completely coated- the sentient goo forming elastic strands to keep him suspended from the cave's walls, soon-enough coating his head and bending the poor necromancer into a contorted and helpless pose. Even his toes were soon stuck together, with a cord of rubber forming to stretch his feet and keep his ticklish soles exposed. Without any way to resist, more snaking tendrils formed purely to tickle him, the squeaking of the latex echoing throughout the room as the poor boy struggled his hardest against the thick goop.
It seems the rubber subsists on the squirming of its captives- and tickling is a VERY effective method of ensuring it's well-fed. Hopefully Zym can figure out how to break free- though the constant caresses on his exposed soles certainly make it hard to figure out a plan!"
I'm really proud of how this colouring came out. I used references from quite a few artists on how to shade the liquid rubber and I think it came out alright, but I still have more to learn. Obviously, this project took a long time to finish and I spent a lot of time looking at different colouring styles.
