L: On a sunny, clear day, a tiny anthro ant searches in the grass for food to bring back to the colony he lives in, a similarly tiny bag in one hand and a spear in another just in case.
S: nearby the tiny ant, there seems to be a pokemon that looks rather confused, it's smaller then it usually is, it was actually a charizard, where it's normally huge in size but is now reduced to a tiny size, and he has no idea why
L: The ant jumps a little in surprise when he sees the charizard, and quickly gets his spear ready in case he has to fight. "W-what are you?"
S: the charizard turns around, it's eyes widening as he sees the spear
"Hey hey hey I'm not an enemy! I'm friendly I swear! I'm a....charizard, a rather tiny one...and I don't know why"
L: "...Well, if you were going to attack me, you probably would've by now." The ant relaxes some again. "That IS weird, that you're so small. I've heard of charizards before, they're a type of giant..."
S: "Yeah, normally charizards are much bigger then this... but for some reason I'm super tiny...I'm like just as tall as you..."
L: "So you don't know why you're like this? Hm... I don't really know how this is possible either... Or how you'd be able to get back to normal."
S: "Yeah, I don't wanna be tiny like this for much longer...I've gotta find a way to go back to normal"
L: "Maybe someone back at the colony will know. I hope so, I don't like when people get stuck with something bad like this."
S: "Well I certainly hope so, you know I've never met an ant before, you seem pretty nice, maybe instead of people stomping on them they should actually stop and get to know them, do you have a name? I don't have one myself sadly, maybe you could give me one?"
L: "Ants like me don't really get names either, I'm not important enough to have one. Maybe for you, um... You've got that tail fire there, so maybe like... Cinder?"
S: "Cinder...I like that name! And not important?? Come on I think you deserve to have a name... hmm what about...Jerry? You like that name?"
L: "Y-yeah, that'd be great! Alright, I'm gonna go by Jerry then!" Jerry is clearly excited to finally have a name.
S: "And I'll go by Cinder then!" Cinder's flame tail wags a little as he's very happy to finally have a nickname he can go by
"Anyways, so...could you take me to see your colony then and hopefully figure out a way to turn me back to normal?"
L: "Right, yeah, I'll lead you there. We don't normally let outsiders in, but you should be allowed in as long as you stay fairly close to me." He starts leading the way to the colony.
S: "O-oh, well ok..." Cinder stays close to Jerry as they start to get into the colony, he was very scared...and he's supposed to b a tough pokemon, he hopes nobody will judge him
L: Once they get to the colony, Cinder does get some odd looks... But, since they're clearly with Jerry, no one really pays them much mind beyond that.
Jerry: "There's a doctor here that should be able to figure out what made you so small, and how to reverse it..."
S: "You guys have a doctor? That's kind of cool, and so is this colony, I never knew ant colonies look like this, it's amazing!"
L: "Apparently a lot of you giants think that we live in big mounds of dirt, but that's actually not that common. It's usually more like this, from what I've heard."
S: "Hmm, I see...anyways, take me to your doctor so I could hopefully turn back to normal"
L: "Right." Jerry brings Cinder to the doctor, another ant.
Jerry: "Hey, this charizard here, Cinder, apparently he's a giant that somehow got shrunken down?"
Doctor: "Oh! Well, I can't pass up a chance to learn about a giant! So, Cinder, what do you remember of what happened?"
S: "I'm not too sure...it all happened so fast... I remember just flying around and having fun, when I felt a zap and then I shrunk down like this, i don't know who did it...but I've been like this now for about 2 weeks"
L: Doctor: "2 weeks ago, hm... There WAS a weird spike in energy that passed by around that time, maybe it had something to do with that? It made a few of us smaller too, but we did manage to cure it."
Jerry: "Oh right, yeah! A friend of mine actually got affected by that!"
S: "Wait, you were able to cure it?? S-so maybe that same cure will work for me?? I need to get back to my normal size soon..."
L: Doctor: "I need a few different things to be able to make it, and I have most of them, but... One of them is only found at the bottom of a nearby pond, and I'm missing that one."
S: "Oh dear... well, that's not a problem, I'm sure one of you ants can go down to that pond and get it for me, and I'll wait here for when you get back with it"
L: Jerry shakes his head. "I wish it were that simple, but it's not. It's a type of algae that grows at a speed based on how much heat is around it, and we used up so much of it that I doubt there'd be enough for another dose of the cure until weeks from now."
Doctor: "Although... Judging by that tail fire of yours, maybe you have some level of power over heat? You might be able to speed it up."
S: "Wait a minute...no...no...no way... your not about to suggest what I think your gonna suggest are you?!"
L: Doctor: "I imagine you're not fond of water because of that fire on your tail, but the algae only grows if it's not moved. You'll have to either stay this small for who knows how long, or dive down and heat it up yourself."
S: "I can't believe this...the only cure for me and I have to interact with..." Cinder shudders in fear "Water... well there's two problems with that, number 1, I can't even swim, and number two, I most certinaly don't think I can handle being submerged! There's gotta be some other way!"
L: Jerry: "I guess we could just hope there's a heat wave?"
Doctor: "But if there isn't, you'd better start learning to swim..."
S: "Dude, it's freaking November! It's not gonna heat up for months!" Cinder sigh heavily
"Ugh!!! I guess I have no choice, Jerry...I want you to teach me how to swim so we can down together and I can heat up that stupid algae"
L: Jerry: "Well, at least I happen to be pretty good at swimming... I'll do my best to help you with this."
Doctor: "Good luck, you two."
S: "Thanks, we're gonna need it" Cinder rolls his eyes, him and Jerry then exit the colony
"I think we'll get to the pond faster if we fly, so" Cinder lowers himself down so Jerry can get on
"Hop on my back, I should be able to carry you find even when I'm tiny"
L: Jerry: "Oh, that's gonna be great!" He gets onto Cinder's back, holding on tight with all four arms.
S: "I love flying for a reason, alright! Hold on tight!" Cinder spreads his wings and takes off into the air, starting to fly towards the nearest pond where the algae is at a fast speed
L: "Woohoo, this is awesome!" Jerry happily looks around, taking in the sights as much as he can.
S: Cinder couldn't help but smile at Jerry's enthusiasm, he even does a happy flip in the air as well...but soon enough, with how fast cinder was going, they arrive at the pond, he lands safely on the ground, this pond was much bigger and deeper with how small Jerry and Cinder are, and Cinder clearly isn't looking forward to this
L: Jerry hops off Cinder's back. "Man, what a rush... But, we're here now, so we should get started on working on getting that algae."
S: "Well I'm glad you enjoyed the ride" Cinder sighs heavily
"Man this is gonna suck so much, I really don't wanna be in the water..."
L: "Hopefully this at least won't be too hard on you... But I definitely don't expect you to end up actually enjoying this, so we'll get it done with as quick as possible."
S: "Are you kidding?! I'm gonna hate it! A lot! This is seriously gonna suck... but yeah let's just get this over with and hope I don't freak out too much..."
L: "So, gotta teach you how to swim first... Normally I use all four of my arms for that, but I'll try to just use two so that you're able to copy me. First though, have to get you okay with going in to begin with."
S: "Yeah...I don't know if I'm even ok with going in the water to begin with...I've never even done that before..."
L: "Well, let's at least try that first, alright?" Jerry wades into the water, holding out a hand for Cinder.
S: Cinder whimpers, he's clearly scared to be going in the water, but he has to try, so he takes Jerry's hand and slowly gets into the water as well, yelping in fear as he did
L: "Man, you're already so scared, this really isn't going to be easy... How about we just walk around for now, give you some time to get more used to it?"
S: "I-i-i don't like it! I don't like it!" Cinder doesn't move from his spot, too scared to move forward in the water
L: "Come on, you have to at least try! I know you don't want to be stuck being tiny until the weather gets warmer!"
S: "Ugh... f-fine..." Cinder reluctantly starts to walk around the shallow parts of the pond, he's still very scared even as he walks around
L: "See? Nothing to worry about, it's not gonna hurt you. This, at least, I think you've got a chance of liking someday."
S: "I don't think so...look let's just move on before I get more scared ok?"
L: "Alright, yeah. Now I'm gonna try to teach you how to swim... Never helped anyone with that before, but hopefully I'll be able to do it."
S: "Ok then...hopefully it won't be too hard for me then" Cinder is still rather scared that he's in the water right now
L: "How do I do this, um... Okay, watch how I go, you should be able to copy it." Jerry gets into deep enough water to swim, and starts paddling around on the surface, making sure to use just his legs and two arms.
S: Cinder watches Jerry swim around, trying to picture how he's gonna approach this
L: After a while, Jerry swims back and returns to Cinder. "Do you think you'd be able to do that yourself?"
S: "I mean, I can try..." with a sigh, Cinder wades deeper into the water and tries to copy what Jerry just did, paddling around, it's more of a doggy paddle but it's working for him
L: Being that that's essentially what Jerry had shown them, he's pretty happy. "There you go, you're doing it! You're swimming!" He starts swimming to make sure he stays close to them.
S: "Hey, I guess I am swimming!" Cinder keeps going for a bit, then stops, floating in place
L: Jerry stops beside them. "So, now, we have to do the worst part... Which at least will also be the last part. You have to try going under."
S: "Under? Oh no...it's happening... this swimming stuff above the water is fine and all, but I really don't think I'm gonna be able to handle being underwater..."
L: "It shouldn't have to be for long, just long enough to get to the bottom and make enough algae grow. Could even be on just one dive! After that, I can gather some myself."
S: "I REALLY don't wanna go underwater... it won't sit well for me at all... being somewhere where I can't breathe normally scares me to death"
L: "Yeah, I'm not a fan of that either... But as soon as we can get this done, we can get that cure for you, and all this'll be over."
S: "I know that, but why does it have to be somewhere where we can't breathe normally? Especially water...I seriously don't wanna experience what it's like being down there"
L: "That's a really bad coincidence, yeah... I'll be right there with you the whole time, I'm pretty sure I'm good enough at holding my breath for that. That should at least help a little bit."
S: "Jerry I don't know man...this is crazy... I'm gonna freak out I know it...and I don't wanna do that to myself"
L: "I know, but it's gonna be months until it's warm enough for that algae to grow on its own, and I know you don't want to be tiny for so long. I think a few minutes of being scared is going to be worth not needing to wait that long."
S: "I still don't know, but...I'm gonna have to try it this once... but if I can't do it then I give up..."
L: "Hopefully just once is all it's going to take..." Jerry holds Cinder's hand again. "I'll do a countdown, then we'll go together, alright?"
S: "F-fine" Cinder is holding back tears, he doesn't wanna submerge at all but he doesn't have a choice
L: "Let's do what we can to make this the only one... 3, 2, 1..." Jerry holds his breath and dives, hoping Cinder will do the same.
S: but since Cinder had no idea how to hold his breath, once his head was under he immediately inhaled the water around him, coming back up and coughing it all out
L: Jerry quickly surfaces as well. "A-are you okay? What just happened?" He pats Cinder's back to help them get the water out.
S: after Cinder gets all the water out he speaks again
"I-i don't know...I think I inhaled the water and I don't know why!"
L: Jerry looks a bit confused for a moment. "You said you knew that you can't breathe underwater... Oh, you must have just mistimed holding your breath."
S: "I think that's the problem, I don't know how to hold my breath..."
L: "Okay, that's what it was... It's easy to do, you just take a deep breath and then don't breathe for a while."
S: "That sounds scary...but I guess I have to do it..." cinder sighs
"Alright, let's try this again I guess"
L: "Hang on, you might want to test it out right now before we go under, just to make sure you've got it. Don't want you taking in water again!"
S: "...good point...alright..." Cinder closes his eyes and takes a deep breath, holding it in, which he manages to do for 3 seconds before he had to let it out, gasping hard
"Oh jeez I didn't line that at all!"
L: "Good thing we tested it, then. That amount of time really isn't gonna cut it for how far down we have to go, we'll probably need at least a minute or two..."
S: "A minute?! No way, I can't do that! It's bad enough that I did it for a few seconds!"
it may take longer then that with how small the two are compared to the pond
L: "I know you'll be able to handle this! Just one more go, and we might be done with all this!"
S: "But Jerry I dont wanna...I'm scared! Plus I heard the water stings your eyes"
L: "It does, but really not that much, it's not that big a deal. And I know, on some level, you DO want to do this, since it's basically the only way for you to get big again without waiting a long time!"
S: "UGHHHH!!!!" cinder is clearly frustrated, he doesn't wanna submerge at all, but he decided to give it one more go
"Fine...one more time now that I know how to hold my breath...."
L: "Let's hope this'll be the last time... Gonna do another countdown, then make sure you're ready, alright?"
S: "O-ok, I guess let's get this done then, I'm gonna be so scared but I'll try my best not to be so afraid..." Cinder whimpers as he's clearly not looking forward to this, but he remains strong and waits for the countdown
L: Jerry is a little nervous about how deep the two are going to have to go, but he tries not to show it. "3, 2, 1..." He holds his breath and dives again.
S: after a little bit of hesitation, Cinder takes a deep breath and holds it in tight before diving underwater as well, he quickly begins to whine and whimper a lot, bubbles escaping him quickly as he's clearly not enjoying this feeling
L: Noticing all the bubbles that Cinder is losing, Jerry holds their nose shut for them, giving them a little smile. Holding their hand, he starts swimming deeper.
S: Cinder's eyes go wide as his nose is pinched shut, he's not calming down at all, losing bubbles from his mouth as they swim deeper, he keeping whimpering
L: Even with Cinder continuing to lose air, Jerry hopes that it'll still be possible to get all the way down to the algae, and just keeps going for now.
S: but eventually, Cinder couldn't handle being deeper underwater and let's go of Jerry's hand, starting to make his way back up as his face is fully red, almost turning blue as he let's out a lot of bubbles
L: Jerry sighs out some bubbles as he watches Cinder go back to the surface, and he swims up after them.
S: Cinder eventually surfaces and gasps heavily for air, coughing a bit of water out too, he's clearly upset that he couldn't handle it
L: Jerry surfaces next to them not long after, taking a breath. "I guess you got too scared again, huh?"
S: "Y-yeah... I couldn't do it... the deeper we went the more scared I got...I'm sorry I tried my best!"
L: "I really don't know what else either of us can do to make this easier, sorry..." Jerry gives Cinder a hug.
S: Cinder actually starts to cry, which he never ever does, it's a rare sight as he hugs Jerry back
"This is so complicated... I really don't know what to do... I hate this!"
L: "I know, this really sucks... Ugh, why does it have to be that we need heat to get that dumb algae..."
S: "Yeah! Of all things we could need it wants heat! So annoying!!!"
L: "I'd just heat it up myself if I could, but body heat barely does anything. It'd still take like a week... We CAN do this though, I know it! We just have to figure out how!"
S: "What can we do then?? I feel like there's nothing we can do and I'll just keep getting scared... ugh!!"
L: "I'm really not sure... Is there anything you like to do to calm yourself down when you're having a bad day? We might be able to do whatever that is."
S: "Well I doubt we can do any flying underwater, cause that usually helps me relax...hugs relax me too, but I guess not in this sense"
L: "We haven't tried hugging underwater yet, that might help. Do you want to give that a shot?"
S: "I suppose it's better then nothing...so yeah let's give it a whirl as much as I don't wanna go back underwater"
L: "Okay, we'll try one more time. If this doesn't work, we might want to take a break while we come up with something..."
S: "Yeah I guess that's a good idea...I don't know how much longer I can take this honestly..."
L: "I think we'll have this be the last attempt for now, yeah. 3, 2, 1..." Jerry dives once more.
S: Cinder whimpers again but he eventually holds his breath and dives back under as well, his cheeks puffing up
L: Jerry quickly hugs Cinder again once they're back underwater, hoping that'll finally make the difference.
S: while bubbles still constantly escape Cinder, it does seem to help just a tiny bit, he's not as scared as he was before
L: Glad that there's at least been an improvement, Jerry keeps holding Cinder with two arms while he starts swimming toward the bottom again.
S: Cinder continues to whimper as they start going deeper, the hug only helping a little bit before he starts panicking
L: Even seeing Cinder getting scared again, Jerry tries to keep going, wanting this to finally be over with.
S: Cinder looks up desperately at the surface, whimpering some more the deeper they dive, he's even shaking as well, his face already red as they keep going deeper and deeper
L: But now, seeing that Cinder once again can't handle it, Jerry gives up and just starts heading back for the surface with them.
S: but they were so close! Maybe a good 20 more feet, and seeing as he was already in too deep, cinder growls out some bubbles in determination and keeps swimming down to the algae below, pretty fast too, even as his fears threatened to consume him whole
L: Seeing Cinder finally determined to get this done, Jerry smiles and starts heading back down to rejoin them. Down below, there's a little bit of purple algae on the bottom - what the two have been looking for.
S: finally, after what felt like forever, the two finally touch the bottom where the algae is at, cinder is getting very scared because of how deep this is, but he tries to put that in the back of his mind for just a few more seconds
L: Only now does Jerry realize he doesn't know how Cinder might be able to heat up the algae underwater... Not knowing much about charizards, he looks at them, hoping they have an idea. "Mm?"
S: "Hmmm...." Cinder thinks for a second, then he notices the tail flame on his tail still burning despite being underwater, he snaps his fingers as he gets an idea, he puts his tail flame near the algae, managing to heat it up
L: Sure enough, with that, the algae starts to slowly spread! Jerry nods, and watches it go, hoping there'll be a decent amount soon.
S: eventually, the algae grows just enough to make it spread a lot, cinder nods as he hopes he'll be enough, he really needs air as he grunts in strain
L: Jerry scoops up a bunch of it in a couple hands, then gestures toward the surface as he starts heading back up.
S: Cinder let's out some bubbles as he swims up to the surface in a hurry
L: Staying close to Cinder, Jerry starts to get a bit worried about them again, hoping they'll manage to stay calm long enough to surface...
S: cinder's face is blue, but he keeps swimming, hoping to surface soon and not inhale the water, he's getting closer thankfully
L: Jerry's face goes fully red before much longer, but he's now at least feeling a little more confident he and Cinder will surface in time.
S: Soon enough, they both break the surface at the same time, cinder gasping heavily for air, he immediately swims to shore and gets out of the water, drying himself off
"Never again, never ever ever EVER, going underwater again!"
L: Jerry comes to shore as well, making sure to keep hold of the algae. "I definitely don't blame you... But, now we've got the algae, so it was worth it! You'll be back to normal in no time!"
S: "Good, now come on let's get outta here, hop on" Cinder lowers his back so Jerry can get on
L: Jerry happily jumps on again, making sure not to get any of the algae on Cinder so they'll have as much of it still usable as possible.
S: "Hold on tight!"
Cinder spreads his wings once again and fly up off the ground, then starts to head back to the colony
L: Jerry enjoys the flight just as much as last time, and even though the two technically aren't that far in the air, it's a great view compared to what's normal for the ant.
S: eventually the two make it back to the ant colony, cinder lands in front of it and smiles a bit at Jerry
"Phew, we made it back... I'm glad you seem to enjoy the ride, heh"
L: Jerry gets back onto the ground, nodding. "Yeah, flying is a ton of fun! Now you've made me wish I had wings myself!"
S: "Hehe, well hey even if I get back to my normal size and you want a ride, I'll give you one still, even if you'll be much smaller then me"
L: "I'd really like that, yeah! And we'd be able to go even higher, too! As weird as it'd be to hang out with a giant, anyway, since most of us are afraid of those."
S: "Yeah, but I wouldn't do anything to hurt you guys... even if we never met I probably still wouldn't hurt you"
L: "That's good at least, it'll be nice to have a friendly giant around. Speaking of, how about we go get that cure now?"
S: "YES! Please, this better have been worth it... I am not doing something like this again!
L: Jerry leads Cinder back to the doctor. "We got the algae! Hopefully this is enough, neither of us want to go back for more."
The doctor looks over the algae. "Yep, this'll work! I'll get working on the cure, it should be ready in half an hour or so." He scoops up the algae from Jerry.
S: "Half an hour? That's a long time but, alright I guess I can wait then, maybe Jerry can show me around the ant colony a bit more since I probably won't be able to see this again"
L: Jerry: "Alright, sure! Yeah, it'll be pretty tough to see anything that's not outside once you're big again, heh."
S: "Heh yeah, lead the way then, I'm curious what's here"
L: Jerry shows Cinder around the colony to pass the time. It almost feels like a regular-sized town that just got shrunken down, and is pretty much what one would expect from that.
S: Cinder likes the place a lot, taking in the sights while he can, eventually the cure is ready
L: "Alright, it's probably been enough time by now. Let's head back and go get the cure."
S: "Right" they head back to the Dr's place as cinder hopes the cure is ready
L: Sure enough, once they arrive, the doctor comes to them with a vial of purple fluid. "Just in time! This here will put you back to normal again. Just, ah... Don't drink it in the colony, please."
Jerry: "Yeah, it wouldn't end well if you became huge again near here..."
S: "Heh, right...thank you so much doc" Cinder then walks outside the colony and makes sure he's got enough room, then after a little hesitation he drinks the purple fluid
"Yuck, that tastes terrible!"
but sure enough he grows and returns back to his normal size
"Ha! It worked!"
L: Jerry nervously steps back from Cinder a bit, intimidated by their new size. "...S-so, you're still gonna be nice, right?"
S: Cinder smiles and kneels down to be more eye level with Jerry
"Of course I am!" he holds out his hand and gently pets Jerry, being extra careful not to hurt him
L: Jerry sighs in relief at the petting. "Okay, good... I guess you're probably gonna be leaving now though, aren't you?"
S: "Yeah probably, but it was really nice meeting you... I hope we see each other again soon!"
L: "I hope so too, I liked spending time with you! See you again sometime, Cinder!"
S: "Goodbye Jerry!" with a happy grin, cinder steps back carefully and takes off into the air as well, quickly zooming away, happy that he's back to normal
