"Are ya suure ya don't need any help?" The little mouse peeked her head around the side of her hubby as he rummaged through the tool box he had.
"Nah, I got it." He finally found the drill he was looking for. "Aha! Now show me where ya want that shelf."
Minnie lifted one hand, keeping the other behind her as she pointed to the spot on the wall in the living room where she wanted said shelf to go. "Right there."
"Got it!" He looked at the spot and held his head close to it as he knocked on it, making sure there was a stuff behind it.
"An' ya don't need my help?" Minnie wore a little grin as she watched his ears twitch, listening to the softer and harder thuds behind the wall.
It wasn't that she didn't think he could put up a shelf. He was fully capable of doing it. Buuuut... he had a tendency to have zany and wacky things happen to him. Actually, herself, too. That's why she asked. A simple trip to golf course for them was anything but ordinary. A gopher would pop out of one of the holes, or they'd get a ball stuck in a UFO. Or her golf trophy taken by Mortimer like before...
"Nah, it's good. I got it." He gave a wink. "Juuust gotta find the studs..."
"Okaay. Well, then... I'm gonna go get this paint offa me."
Minnie wanted to hang a new shelf. So Mickey went to the tool shed to look for the drill and screws, and she followed. And as luck would have it, a can of paint fell over and splashed a little paint on her legs. She picked the wrong time to wear shorts. Luckily only her leg got the paint. None got on her sandals or shorts.
"Okie doke. I'll have th' shelf up by th' time yer done."
"Alright. If ya need some help just holler." Minnie nuzzled her nose to his cheek and headed upstairs to get the paint off while Mickey checked the wall once more.
He placed his round ear on the wall and knocked on it, listening for the stud. He put the screw on the wall and the drill bit on the screw head. Pulling the trigger, nothing happened. He looked at the drill and tried again. Nothing. He realized that the drill battery was dead. Offf course.
After giving a little grunt, he set the drill and screw down and headed back out to the shed in backyard to find the spare battery. Putting up a simple shelf shouldn't be that hard. But then again, it was him after all. After finding the battery he headed back inside and attached it to the drill. And it was charged.
"Ha! Perfect." Mickey picked up the screw again and put it on the wall. Pulling the trigger, he felt the screw go through the wall and stopped, leaving a little of the head out. Getting another screw, he realized it was too short. He started rummaging through the screws again until he found one that was like the previous one.
Standing, he picked up the shelf and held it to the wall, then looked at the back of it for where the screw needed to go. After checking again, he set the shelf down and placed the screw to the wall. Pulling the trigger on the drill, he noticed for a second the screw moved a little faster than the last one.
GRRRIII!
...Oh, crud...
He stopped. That didn't sound right. Was that the stud? He tilted his head and tried again. That wasn't wood he heard. Sounded like metal. "...Uh-oh..."
"Mickey?"
Mickey turned to see Minnie at the top of the stairs, wearing only her bow and a... bath towel.
"What happened to the water? There's no pressure..." she said as she walked down the stairs.
The only thing that moved on Mickey were his eyes, as he glanced back to the wall. Ohhh, crud... "Must have a water leak?" He turned quickly back to the wall and tried to unscrew the screw he just put in as she walked over to his side and just behind him, arms behind her back.
Minnie heard the sound. "That doesn't sound good. Sounds like you hit the water pipe."
"Mayybe I hit a very hard stud?" he said, a wide nervous grin on his mug.
"Nah," Minnie smirked, knuckles going to her hips. "I'm looking at 'im." She giggled and lowered her hands. "But seriously... you hit a water pipe or the junction box."
"Aww, cheese whiz..." His hands dropped to his sides.
"Here."
Mickey suddenly had a towel draped over his head. He pulled it off and turned his head to see Minnie had taken off the towel she had wrapped around her, leaving all of her - every naked inch, with a tiny glisten from still being wet- exposed.
"Yer gonna need this more than me," she said with a devious grin, putting the towel in his hand and patting his shoulder before walking away with a wide smile.
Mickey looked at the wall, then back to her. Then the wall. Then to her. And he grinned. The leak could wait. He couldn't. "Ya wanna bet?"
And neither could she. That's why she gave him the same towel in the first place. She felt his arms go around her waist and his body pressed against her back. "Ha ha! I was wondering when you'd make your move, hee hee~!" She turned in his arms to face him, her arms moving around his neck.
"Want me t' fix th' leak first?" he asked with a teasing grin.
Heck, no, she didn't! The darn leak could wait. She couldn't. "Pft! No! I want you to drill something else..."
He nuzzled her just under her cheek. "Brrt brrt!" His adorable imitation of a drill made her burst into a giggle fit.
She peck his lips before grabbing his hand, slipped out of his arms and pulled him toward the stairs with a excited giggle. "C'mon! drill master!"
And the leak didn't get fixed for a little while. And she helped him with the leak when it did get fixed.
It started with a shelf. And it ended with a fun romp. And with these two mice, that was the norm.
