Actually, after you've removed the hipster UI, it's probably the best OS they have ever done, and Win 7 was far fro being bad.

The kernel, the core functions of the OS are well coded. It's as stable and safe as 7, which was itself much more stable (Not lying here) than Ubuntu (yet less stable than most other Linux distros) though not as safe, which doesn't mean that safety is problem since the time of having viruses and suchlike is just an old retarded mac user fantasy.

It's a shame they did so much crap on the UI because the OS itself is really cool and incredibly more fast than Win 7. But this can be changed though.

Everyone agrees. The UI, though, looks very much like my pic.
Ah, and I know what you mean, Ubuntu isn't stable. Well, it's becoming more stable with every new version, but still, the UI is as thin as a paper sheet, since the system is still a big term emulator with an unecessary, but recommendable GUI over it. A lot of stability problems could be fixed if you took down X, therefore Unity, and working in command line. Because the graphic aspect, specially of Unity, is very resource consuming and is the first to suffer if something goes wrong. Memory leak on 28461? Suddenly nothing is clickable and GUI freezes.
It's when you hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 and find out that the system is still okay in the CLI, it was just the GUI being oversensitive.
