Character Description

Rhaine is a young Zorua currently in college with Hana-Rei, Tala and Coco. Rhaine is a very athletic and driven track runner on scholarship at the University. She is the school’s other top runner alongside Tala, but more often than not (but not always) Rhaine comes in second to Tala. A familiar pattern as Rhaine often earned a silver medal when competing with Tala since the two were in youth competitions. The two became very familiar with one another and even have what some could call a “friendship” even though they would never admit it to each other.

Personality

Competitive, Driven, Quiet, and Aloof

Though Rhaine was quiet and reserved, rarely speaking to more than a handful of people, Tala remained a consistent presence. Their families grew close through years of track meets and shared experiences, with Zeena and Tala’s mother, Isabella (a strong and often intimidating Tyranitar), becoming friends. Rhaine formed a special connection with Miss Izzy, seeing her as an aunt-like figure who understood her introversion. Despite their differences, Rhaine often spent time at Tala’s home, even if she disliked the confinement of the city.

Likes: Running in nature, quiet studying, competition, and Foxes (or whatever the equivalent to foxes is for the world, lol)

Dislikes: Cheaters, obnoxiously loud people, large crowds, snakes (had a terrible encounter with a nest of ekans and an Arbok once, don't ask) and the thought of being forgotten.

Background/History

Rhaine grew up on the rural outskirts of the city, the only child of Sonny, a hardworking Rapidash, and Zeena, a compassionate Zoroark schoolteacher. Though her family lived modestly, Rhaine never lacked support or affection. Her parents always prioritized her needs, encouraging her passions and attending every event she participated in. From a young age, she displayed a deep love for nature and solitude, embodying her Zoroark heritage with quiet introspection. By age 7, she had developed a passion for running, finding peace in the forests near her home. By 10, she began competing in city races, where she first met Tala, a fierce, equally talented Larvitar girl. Their natural competitiveness forged an intense bond—one of mutual respect, rivalry, and a strange form of friendship.

As they grew older, their rivalry sharpened. Rhaine typically played second fiddle to Tala in competitions, consistently placing just behind her at major meets. This pushed Rhaine to train harder, which in turn forced Tala to work twice as hard to maintain her lead. Tala never looked down on Rhaine—if anything, she admired her natural drive. While the two rarely acknowledged each other as close friends, they shared many moments together: studying, watching movies, discussing life. Their connection was unspoken but undeniable—two people whose spirits clashed and danced in tandem.

In high school, Rhaine and Tala attended different schools but continued to cross paths in sports. Rhaine excelled academically, graduating in the top 10%, while Tala’s more social nature kept her lower in the rankings. Both earned athletic scholarships to the same university, where their complex dynamic only deepened.
