Tonight, we find ourselves at the Squirrellis household. It's a Fall evening, already dark, and yet there is an event to attend!
Caroline, with her husband, and their older son Carsyn are all headed to a dinner event a few towns over — an after-school "Sports Recognition" conference that Carsyn was invited to for all his athletic achievements at school! He was already getting attention from many coaches for his athletic skills. One day that squirrel boy would be a big sports star. Or so that was Carsyn's dream!
Unfortunately attendance would be very limited since it was a special dinner event, and since Caedyn doesn't care for sports much at all, he agreed to stay behind at home for a few hours — with supervision of course. Cae probably doesn't need it, but Caroline hired a sitter just in case! Better safe than sorry.
Caroline felt a little bad about not being able to bring Caedyn with, but he seemed more than content to stay home. It didn't phase him, being the introvert he is.
Through a friend of a friend, she'd heard about a very reliable and teenaged feline sitter, Aiza!
As word of mouth had it, Aiza was a trustworthy teen who had extra experience sitting cubs of many ages.
Aiza was dropped off at the Squirrellis house and rung the doorbell, being met warmly by Caroline who was already in a hurry to head out.
There wasn't much time for formalities, but Caroline caught a good vibe from the cute Aiza.
"Hi there, come right in!!" Caroline cheerfully exclaimed as she opened the door to let Aiza in.
As Aiza crossed the threshold into the upper-middle class household, she found a tidy, warmly lit home. They had already spoken over the phone earlier that day, and Aiza was filled in by Caroline as to the timing, details, and everything she needed to know about watching Caedyn. Well, maybe not everything. Still, this made for a quicker interchange at the door, allowing Caroline to rush out (regretfully) quicker than she would have liked.
"Thank you Aiza for watching Caedyn. I've gotta run, my hubby and Carsyn are waiting outside in the car!" Caroline stated in an apologetic tone for the rush. They were running late for the event.
Caroline shared a few last-minute details and things of note about Cae, the house, and emergency contacts.
"Make sure to keep a good eye on Cae, and help out if he needs anything at all."
"Don't worry Mrs. S!! I PROMISE he won't get out of my sight!" Aiza replied, looking up at the (quite tall) Mrs. Squirrellis. Was there a slight deviousness to Aiza's reply?
In a hurry, Caroline grabbed her purse, rushed out and shut the door to the front entrance.
Not long after the car backed out of the driveway and silently coasted off, Caedyn softly came downstairs to meet his feline sitter....
Looking down the stairs at her, almost instantly the green-eyed catgirl had his attention!
"H-Hi Aiza...." he softly slipped out, with a cute but awkward wave.
"Hello there Caedyn ~" she replied with a wink back.
