Kleo Pati, an enigmatic Anubis Pal, began life as a loyal enforcer of the Rayne Syndicate. Gifted with an unyielding sense of duty and sharp intelligence, she earned her position as Zoe Rayne's trusted shadow. Her Dark and Psychic abilities made her invaluable for carrying out high-profile missions: intelligence gathering, silencing opposition, and managing rogue factions.

But Kleo wasn't always the cold and calculating operative she became under Zoe’s rule. Long before the Syndicate, she was a wanderer in search of meaning, captivated by stories of justice and fairness. The Syndicate offered her purpose, promising to protect the downtrodden and maintain order in the chaotic Palpagos Islands. It wasn’t until years later that Kleo uncovered the truth—the Syndicate’s so-called protection came at the cost of countless innocent Pals, sold or enslaved for profit.

Background/History

Note: On a mission to neutralize an informant aiding the Free Pal Alliance, Kleo hesitated. The informant’s words shook her to the core, accusing her of aiding a machine of oppression. "You're no guardian, Kleo," he said. "You’ve chained yourself to monsters and called it duty." The seeds of doubt had been planted, and over time, Kleo began to see the Syndicate’s operations for what they were—greed and exploitation disguised as control.

Note: When the Syndicate captured and began experimenting on young Pals, Kleo made her choice. Defying Zoe Rayne, she broke into the Syndicate Tower, freeing as many captives as she could. Though her rescue attempt was successful, it came at a steep price: Zoe marked Kleo as a traitor and unleashed her Grizzbolt on her former ally. Kleo narrowly escaped, battered but alive, retreating to the outskirts of the island.

Note: Now a fugitive, Kleo Pati roams the Palpagos Islands as an avenger of wrongs. While she aligns with no faction, she has crossed paths with the Free Pal Alliance, the Brothers of the Eternal Pyre, and even the morally ambiguous PIDF. Each has attempted to recruit her, but Kleo keeps her distance, wary of trading one chain for another.

Note: Her encounters with the Moonflower Clan were particularly poignant. The clan's reverence for renewal resonated with her inner conflict. She now views herself as an agent of balance, fighting not to serve an agenda but to protect the freedom of Pals from exploitation, whether by humans or their own kind. However, Kleo is cautious even of the Moonflowers' Crescent Moon prophecy, having learned to distrust absolutes and messianic visions.

Note: Kleo carries herself with a quiet confidence, her glowing red eyes peering into the hearts of those she encounters. Her dark fur and sleek, jackal-like form make her an imposing figure, and her enhanced speed grants her foresight and enhanced perception, giving her an edge in battle. Despite her fierce exterior, she harbors a deep loneliness, her self-imposed exile weighing heavily on her.

Note: In combat, Kleo is precise and unrelenting, wielding her powers to disarm opponents and manipulate the battlefield. Her shadowy techniques make her a nightmare to predict.
