Morganna mastered the art of remaining poised under pressure, cultivating an image of elegance and control that made her seem untouchable to most who crossed her path.

Background/History
Kashus was never one of those people. Long before tragedy hollowed him out, Kashus openly adored her. His affection was impossible to miss—persistent, genuine, and at times almost embarrassingly sincere. Morganna cared for him too, though carefully and quietly. Back then, there was still warmth in him, still restraint. Even after the death of his wife Uriel, part of Morganna wanted to believe the man she once admired was still somewhere beneath the grief.
But grief twisted him.
What followed Uriel’s death was not mourning alone, but indulgence without limits. Kashus descended into excess, chasing distraction through pleasure, obsession, and conquest. The nobleman who once pursued Morganna with genuine affection became someone increasingly ruled by appetite. Women within the manor became objects of fixation, drawn into his orbit whether they welcomed it or not.
Morganna stayed longer than she should have because she believed she could manage him. When Kashus’s attention shifted toward Lucifette, Morganna recognized the danger immediately. Lucifette possessed the kind of innocence and vulnerability that Kashus, in his deteriorating state, would inevitably consume. Morganna placed herself between them however she could—redirecting his attention, tolerating his advances, and giving pieces of herself away in the hope that it would spare Lucifette from becoming another casualty of his obsession.
It worked for a time. But no amount of sacrifice could truly contain someone unraveling from within.Her relationship with Kashus eventually resulted in the birth of Katerina, binding Morganna permanently to a family she had once only served. Katerina’s existence complicated everything: politically, emotionally, and personally. The child became living proof of Morganna’s inability to fully separate duty from emotion. Through Katerina, Esyridiel unknowingly gained a half-sister, though the tangled nature of the family left little room for anything resembling normalcy.
Morganna carries immense guilt for the role she played within the manor’s decay. Part of her knows she enabled Kashus by remaining close to him for so long, even if her intentions began as protection. Yet another part resents the impossible position she was placed in—forced to choose between sacrificing herself emotionally or allowing others to suffer in her place.
Despite everything, Morganna remains deeply maternal and fiercely protective. The years hardened her, but they never made her cruel. She has simply learned that love inside powerful households rarely survives untouched. It becomes transactional, distorted, weaponized.
