I had an idea...

Silly

Medium (920px wide max)
Wide - use max window width - scroll to see page ⇅
Fit all of image in window
set default image size: small | medium | wide
Download (new tab)
And since they light up they be easier to see in the dark, also somebody from a discord server brought an interesting idea, if this feature was on a third party controller it can theoretically change button symbols too, so you can use it on a Playstation, Xbox, Switch, etc.

Actually this idea gave me another idea, this can be useful for Virtual Consol/NSO too, for example if you play a Genesis game it can automatically change Y to C for example.

Afaik Nintendo does not accept suggestions but a man can dream!

Really great idea that. One downside would be that it would probably eat up the battery power though...  =P
Would still be cool to have on the wired controllers for sure though.

Exactly what I was going to say, eats up battery power.

Backlighting is dirt cheap and would barely affect battery life.  That would be nice.

LCDs in that form factor would need either ribbon cables or induction/NFC coils on each button.  If Nintendo is too damn cheap to put quality hall-effect sensors in their analog sticks, they certainly wouldn't care about illuminated buttons.  8)

one small flaw, if the buttons change orientation on rotation they could screw up an active player that has a habit of moving the controller while they play.  A "mode switch" might be better where they go from vertical to horizontal orientation by selecting the controller option from the console.  Also the lights might limit the battery power a little, but given how long the battery in a switch controller actually lasts it shouldn't be too big a deal, even if you cut that in half it would last for a decent gaming session.

Good idea, but the con of it all here would be one thing: Battery life. Yet, if a man can dream, I'd be down for a controller like this!
