Greta of Infupol is the mother of Lessa, she has been seen seen a total of once in the story but her magical sleep is the inciting incident.
Before the events of the story Greta had moved to just outside of Woodsheart Village deep inside of the Grimwood to raise her child away from the meddling and schemes of nobility in more tame lands. Also in her achieving of skill and prestige she had made a number of enemies along the way. Greta reckoned that hiding away in dangerous hinterlands would keep Lessa safer. After all, an odd bandit, wild beast, or monster is but a triviality to a master witch.
In woodsheart village she had even found an old woman cut from the same cloth, a local mystic named Starnose. Starnose was more powerful than Greta would assume, delighting her. Starnose became a grandmotherly figure to Lessa growing up.
Greta otherwise is usually confident bordering on arrogance, cagey, and often distant. Towards Lessa, she was often over-protective.
The darkness around their eyes isnt a facial feature its just make-up basically. They do look very similar, yes. Greta is basically a taller, fuller version of Lessa with straight hair. (More lore lol:) in this setting though this is unlikely to be stated outright the child is always the same 'species' as the mother, occasionally with characteristics from the father. The feral beasts of this world actually operate on the same principle but no one has ever made a note of it.
