Sydney sighed anxiously.
Though they have been dating for a few months now, this was the first Valentine's they'd spend together. Normally going to school together on TJ's mom's car, he decided to go a bit late. Just a few minutes to write something bitchin' on his VD card.
"Violet are... no, he deserves better."
"Who deserves better?" Carl asked, though by his grin he clearly knew the answer.
They were on the bus with Jasmynn and Chase. Karen had to call it off for a substitute driver, which was less nosy but quite stern, so they whispered.
"You know, there's nothing wrong with starting with that" Jasmynn said, "The best artists make a new twist on what's popular."
"Still, it's pretty cringe dude" Chase snorted.
"I don't see you writing anything for Leo" Sydney responded.
"T-that's because we're above this shitty holiday!" Chase blurted.
"Aw, you're just incapable of doing anything artist" Sydney teased.
"Well, whatever it is you're going to write, you don't have much time" Jasmynn said, pointing to the Payton school just a few moments away.
"Shit!" Sydney said, before packing his things.

TJ was exhausted from morning math, but his mood lifted when he saw Sydney. He seemed exhausted too, and a bit nervous. TJ, like the good boyfriend he is, kissed him gently on the cheek.
He then noticed the card in Sydney's paw.
"Aw, for me?" TJ asked.
"I-it's nothing special" Sydney said, putting his cap over his eyes in embarassment.
"If it's from you, it's special" TJ said, "Besides my own card is not that great."
Sydney lifted his cap, allowing his blue eyes to meet TJ's own.
"You have a Valentine's card for me too?"
TJ handed him his.
"'The hunger for love
Is much more difficult to remove
Than the hunger for bread.'"
"Yeah, I kind of just went with a card my mom gave me" said TJ sheepishly.
"Kinda of ominous, but I like it" Sydney said, kissing TJ.
Reluctantly, he gave him his card.
"'Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
How do yu make your fur shine?
I hope you'll be mine.'"
"Corny, I know. A-and not my best work-"
TJ silenced Sydney with a kiss on the lips. The two enjoyed each other's presence, Sydney stroking TJ's face gently. When they broke apart they smiled, tears welling in their eyes.
"Honestly, I'm feeling pretty awful to half-butt my card" TJ said, touching his own arm.
"Nonsense, it was beautiful, just like you."
The ring of classes ended their short time together, but the rest of the day promised to be as bright as the sun.
