Finally done, what was originally intended to be the last drawing of December 2024 turned into the first of January 2025, oops. It was loosely inspired by all of the anthro Utahraptor and Utahraptor GF art circulating around but diverted away from the romantic desires of lonely Beta males (like yours truly) toward the depiction of an Alpha male, specifically a Utahraptor cowboy. I quickly had the idea to draw him lighting a cigarette in the vein of the old Marlboro Man ads but then I decided to add a second character, a raptor cowgirl standing alongside him. I had sketched out the idea around Christmas but constant tiredness and fighting a cold and overactive sinuses put a damper on that.

Honestly, the hardest part was figuring out how to color these two; I had drawn out their outfits and admittedly king of half-assed the cowgirl's but I struggled with their colors. I did decided to base the male's off of one of the available skins for the JWE2 Utahraptor (and gave him what's basically feather sideburns or mutton chops) but the female was harder. Eventually, I decided to loosely base her patterns off of a Pine Siskin but the coloring I also kind of half-assed. The background I made simple, using just colored pencils with what's supposed to be dry grass (based off of the mild winter we've been having here in the PNW), pine or spruce tress in the back, and what's supposed to be some sort of ridge or hill, loosely based off of actual Utah terrain. Ironically, that particular state has been absolutely buried in snow for the past few weeks, go figure.
