Continuing my adventure in snowflakes.. This has been the first time I've somewhat been able to capture the significant beauty of nature's fractal patterns. I'm still not happy with it, but after 5 or so attempts, I'm making great progress! This snowflake was modeled in blender by me using a picture of a snowflake that I had taken during an recent storm. Each day I spend on snowflake related tasks, I'm delving deeper into the details of what makes a snowflake, a snowflake. It's not enough to create an outline. Really looking at the details that are grown into the ice, the intricacy of branches and dimples and hexagonal patterns are really something. I'd give this attempt a 4.5/10, because it simply doesn't do it justice.
I plan on making this piece into a necklace on a laser cut background painted with swirling patterns of white, and a mix of blues. I'm excited to see how it comes out.
