Dopple was able to become a kind soul and willing to help those around because of the friends and family he had. But what if he didn’t have those? Meet Shift. Dopple having no parents was sent to an orphanage and was no better for him as he was being bullied by one kid and other kids joining in there for his shadow powers. It was not until later when he got bullied again that he discovered his shape shifting and power copy ability and just had enough. As he was holding off the bully he grabbed the bully and felt a spark flow through him. The bully pushes him back feeling pain and Dopple’s body unconsciously changes to look like the bully. He gets called a freak for the change and ran out in tears. He felt the other kids wouldn’t accept him and the adults at the orphanage didn’t show any support. His joy and happiness was gone that it even affected his body turning his blue fur into a dull gray and his eyes turning black with pupils turning gray as well. The little gray rabbit felt alone and thought better to stay like that. But not before getting back at the place that made him felt not welcomed. He turns into the bully and causing as much damage to the orphanage before making his leave. He also decided to change his name to Shift acknowledging his old life was over
As he grew up he was causing mischief with his cunning and stealing what he needs all around and then blending in not being caught. Knowing of Sonic and his friends he visits as a “fan” thinking he could put their powers to good use. He never cared about anyone but himself until he heard about a pair causing mayhem all around for Sonic and his friends. When the pair got defeated by Sonic while also being from Dr. Starline, Shift finds them with Surge unconscious and carries her and leading Kit back to his hideaway. When Surge come to she was healed and cautious not knowing where she was. She then sees the gray rabbit sitting nearby reading. She was about to attack thinking she was being held but he assures her she can leave whenever she wanted as he only kept her there to hide her from Sonic and anyone looking for her. He then tells her that she and Kit can stay here if they want and really liked what they were doing and causing trouble imagining how much more they can do together. She didn’t trust him at first but she loved the idea of causing more trouble.
