Tobias: Shadows and Friends
The blackout plunged Evergrand Island into an unsettling silence. Streetlights flickered and died, businesses went dark, and the hum of the power grid was replaced with the occasional sputter of backup generators. Tobias stood at the edge of Virtuoso’s base, his war hammer resting against the wall as he prepared to leave for Starfleet Command. Reporting their partial victory—and the blackout—to Admiral Castor wasn’t going to be easy.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, Martha, Bruno, and Luna found themselves navigating the blackout in their own ways.

Martha: Making the Most of It
Martha sat cross-legged in her room, the dim glow of a small, battery-powered lamp casting long shadows. Her tools and a half-finished mechanical rabbit lay scattered in front of her.
“I can’t believe they took the power,” she muttered, tightening a bolt on her creation. “How am I supposed to finish Bunn-E’s sibling now?”
Her ears twitched as a knock sounded on her door. Bruno’s voice called softly, “Martha, you okay in there?”
“Come in,” she replied, setting her wrench down.
Bruno entered, his large frame barely squeezing through the doorframe. “I thought you might need some light,” he said, holding up a portable lantern.
Martha smiled, her mechanical mind already turning. “Actually, I think we could use that to test something.”
Bruno’s ears perked up. “What’s that?”
“Backup power for small devices,” Martha explained, grabbing a few wires. “If we can rig this, we might be able to get the refrigerator running for an hour or two.”

Bruno: Strength in the Shadows
While Martha worked on her project, Bruno moved to the kitchen, checking on the food supplies. The blackout meant no refrigeration, and with the island’s power grid down, it wasn’t clear when it would return.
“We’re going to need to share,” Bruno said, his calm voice carrying through the darkened room. “I’ll ask around the neighborhood tomorrow. If anyone needs food, we can pool what we have.”
Bruno’s father, standing nearby, placed a hand on his son’s shoulder. “That’s a good idea, Bruno. But don’t forget to take care of yourself, too.”
Bruno nodded, a soft determination in his expression. “We’ll manage. Together.”

Luna: Navigating the Unknown
Luna padded quietly through the darkened streets, her sharp eyes adjusting to the lack of light. The gray fox had always been quick on her feet, and tonight was no exception. She carried a basket of supplies, weaving between shadows as she delivered necessities to families in her neighborhood.
“Here you go, Mrs. Taily,” Luna said, passing over a box of candles and matches. “This should last you a couple of nights.”
“Thank you, dear,” the older rabbit said, her voice warm. “You’re such a helpful little thing.”
Luna grinned, her sharp teeth glinting faintly in the moonlight. “We’ve all got to stick together during this.”
As she turned to leave, her communicator buzzed faintly. Luna glanced at it, her ears perking up as Tobias’s name appeared on the screen. “So he made it back to Command,” she muttered. “Good luck, Tobe.”

Tobias Reports to Admiral Castor
Back at Starfleet Command, Tobias stood in Admiral Castor’s dimly lit office. The emergency power barely kept the lights on, casting long shadows across the room. Castor sat behind her desk, her sharp eyes fixed on Tobias as he recounted the events at the Grand Cross Dam.
“We managed to stop the explosives and stabilize the dam,” Tobias said, his tail flicking nervously. “But the turbines were already sabotaged. The blackout couldn’t be avoided.”
Castor’s expression was unreadable as she leaned back in her chair. “And Ivy’s siblings? The Mirai Guntai operatives?”
“They escaped,” Tobias admitted, his ears flattening. “We couldn’t stop them in time.”
The Admiral sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “So, we’ve avoided destruction but plunged the island into chaos. This blackout will cost us dearly.”
“We have evidence,” Tobias said quickly. “Blueberry and Virt are analyzing the systems. We can prove that the Mirai Guntai orchestrated this and that Miyu is behind it all.”
Castor’s gaze sharpened. “Then we’ll focus on that. The evidence is our best weapon now.”

A Flicker of Hope
As Tobias left the office, a mixture of exhaustion and determination weighed on him. He stepped outside into the darkened streets, the distant hum of a generator the only sound.
His communicator buzzed, and he saw a message from Luna: *“Keep pushing, Tobe. We’re with you.”*
Tobias managed a small smile, gripping his war hammer tightly. His friends were out there, doing their part to help the island, and he wouldn’t let them down.
“This isn’t over,” Tobias said to himself, his voice firm. “We’ll bring Miyu down. No matter what.”
In the shadowed city, Tobias felt a spark of hope. Despite the darkness, he and his friends were ready to fight for the light.
