Episode 1: The Great Merge

Section 1: A Lazy Day in Shang Tu
It was a rare lazy afternoon in Shang Tu, and for once, the world seemed at peace. Sash Lilac, Carol Tea, and Milla Basset gathered near the central fountain, enjoying a rare moment of calm. The city’s bustling marketplace was alive with chatter and the aroma of fresh-cooked treats from street vendors, but for the trio, it was all about relaxation.
Carol lounged on the fountain’s edge, her arms folded behind her head and a bag of roasted nuts in hand. “No crazy robots, no villains, no disasters—just us, snacks, and sunshine. This is the life.”
Lilac leaned against the fountain, the sunlight catching her lavender hair. “We’ve earned this break. It feels good to just… be.”
Milla, seated cross-legged on the grass, flipped through a book of puzzles. “Do you think it’ll stay peaceful like this forever?”
Carol smirked, shaking her head. “Not a chance, Milla. We’re magnets for trouble.”
Lilac chuckled. “Let’s just enjoy it while it lasts.”
As if on cue, a familiar icy voice interrupted their tranquility. “Relaxation is a luxury, not a lifestyle,” Neera Li said, approaching them with her staff in hand. Her snow-white fur practically glimmered under the sun as her sharp gaze landed on them. “I see the heroes of Avalice have decided to take the day off.”
“Hey, Neera!” Milla waved, her tail wagging. “Do you want to join us?”
Carol groaned. “Don’t you have a temple to guard or something?”
Neera’s expression didn’t waver. “I came here because the Magistrate sent me. There’s an anomaly in the palace. You should all be investigating, not lounging around.”
Lilac stood up, her brows furrowing. “An anomaly?”
“Yes,” Neera said, her voice laced with urgency. “A disturbance in the energy flow—something unnatural.”

Section 2: A Fractured Reality
Before anyone could respond, the ground beneath them rumbled. The gentle hum of the marketplace fell silent as the air filled with a low, ominous vibration. All eyes turned toward the palace, where an unnatural light pulsed, growing brighter with every second.
“What the heck is that?” Carol exclaimed, standing up and tossing her snacks aside.
The sky above Shang Tu rippled and shimmered, as if reality itself were being pulled apart. Buildings flickered, replaced momentarily by strange, alien landscapes—neon cities, dense forests, and endless deserts. Creatures both familiar and foreign appeared and disappeared like phantoms.
Milla clutched Lilac’s arm. “What’s happening?”
“Something bad,” Lilac muttered. Her fists clenched as she watched the palace. “Really bad.”
Neera’s eyes narrowed. “This is beyond an anomaly. Reality itself is destabilizing.”
A loud *crack* echoed through the air as a massive rift opened above the palace. Spiraling fragments of Avalice’s worldscape were sucked into it, vanishing into the void. The ground trembled violently, sending townsfolk fleeing for cover.
“Lilac! Carol! Milla! Neera!” a familiar voice called out. They turned to see Torque running toward them, his face etched with urgency. In his hands was a small holographic device projecting a spinning globe covered in multicolored energy fields.
“Torque!” Lilac shouted. “What’s going on?”
“Reality is breaking apart!” Torque said. “The barriers between worlds are collapsing. Universes—specifically video game worlds—are merging with Avalice. If we don’t stop it, everything will be destroyed.”

Section 3: A Call to Adventure
“Video game worlds?” Carol asked, wide-eyed. “You mean, like, other worlds with their own rules and stuff?”
“Yes,” Torque replied. “And it’s only getting worse. There’s a central point where this all started. We need to reach it and shut it down. But getting there won’t be easy. The worlds you’ll travel through have their own rules, and you’ll have to adapt to survive.”
Lilac stepped forward, determination in her eyes. “Tell us where to start.”
Torque pressed a few buttons on his device, and a swirling portal of light appeared in the air before them. “This will take you to the first affected world. But be prepared—the physics, mechanics, and challenges of each world will apply to you.”
Carol grinned. “So, what you’re saying is we get to be in video games? Count me in.”
“I’m ready,” Lilac said, clenching her fists. “We’ll fix this.”
Neera, gripping her staff tightly, nodded. “If this is a threat to Avalice, then I’ll go as well. I trust none of you to handle this alone.”
“Yay! Neera’s coming with us!” Milla cheered.
Torque hesitated. “This isn’t going to be easy. Stick together, and don’t underestimate the challenges ahead.”
Lilac turned to her friends. “We’ve faced worse before. As long as we’re together, we’ve got this.”
With that, the four of them stepped into the portal.

Section 4: Into the Mushroom Kingdom
The world they emerged into was a stark contrast to Shang Tu. The sky was a vibrant blue, dotted with cheerful clouds, and the ground beneath their feet was covered in green grass and dotted with floating question-mark bricks. A red-capped plumber jumped in the distance, crushing Goombas with practiced ease.
“Whoa,” Carol said, looking around. “Are we in—?”
“The Mushroom Kingdom,” Neera said flatly. Her eyes scanned the colorful surroundings with suspicion. “I already dislike this place.”
Milla giggled. “It’s so bright and happy!”
Before they could explore further, a massive shadow loomed over them. They looked up to see Bowser’s airship descending, its cannons aimed directly at them.
“Well, that didn’t take long,” Lilac muttered, readying herself for battle.
Carol cracked her knuckles. “Let’s show these guys how we handle things.”
As a horde of enemies poured from the airship, the four heroes prepared to fight. The adventure across worlds had begun.
