It's a soccer picture xD I know most furs aren't into that, but that's quite impactfull and important for me xD

Last saturday, Botafogo, the soccer team i love, made HISTORY, as it won for teh first time on it's 120 years of existence, the most important cup from south america, the Libertadores cup!

This victory has a huge meaning, as the team basically reborn. After it's last big title in 1995, the team suffered with terrible administrations that basically drenched the money. In 2018, there wasn't money to buy new soccer balls for practices. Imagine getting athletes...

This led to a few demotions to the 2nd division, wich gladly the team managed to get promoted back in the following year.

2020:
the team got it's last demotion
Through the next year, in a certain moment we were on 13º in the 2nd division, with little to no money. No expectations for the team to actually survive.
We needed not just one miracle, but a lot of miracles here and there, and somehow... they happened.
The soccer from the team was sold to a big guy, John Textor, and it became a SAF, like a company.
Botafogo managed to finish in first on 2nd division of that year.

2023:
the team managed to be competitive on the first half of the championship, leading the entire championship for 32 turns... But on it's second half, everything fell off, and it was defeat after defeat. We finished on 5th place, after being in first with around 15 points over the 2nd place.

2024:
We started on the Libertadores still haunted by the last season, and we managed to pass through the preliminary stage.

On the group stage, we lost the first 2 games, but we won the next 3 and managed to advance to the knockout stage with still 1 match to play.

On the top 16, there's Palmeiras, the team that, last year, managed to turn a 3-1 into a 3-4 in a matter of minutes, during the last downfall, and also the champion from that edition. We won the first game 2-1, and on the second, we were winning by 0-2, until the final minutes, when they managed to score 2 goals quickly, and then... they scored the third...

the match would go to the penalty shots, but... the goal wasn't valid, as their player got the hand on the ball before the final kick.

After that, they shot a ball on the goalpost!

we passed.

on top 8, São Paulo, another Brazilian strong team.

Two ties on both games,and penalty shots... we passed through them, with our goalkeeper (that until then just caught 1 penalty shot on his entire career) as he caught another.

Top 4. botafogo x Peñarol.

The first game was here, and it got marked as a huge riot happened from some of their fans, with stealing and destroying motorcycles and burning a bus.

Inside the field, they held a tie on the first half, just for the 2nd half... we get a 5-0 against them!

On the 2nd game, our team decided to send a mix of players, as some of the most important players already had 2 yellow cards, and another one would make them loose the final match if they advanced.

We lost... by 3-1, in general, it was 6-3 for us, and we made it to the finals.

Our first finals on that cup. decided in a single game! And the game was last saturday.

How it started? great? no. we had a red card on the first 40...seconds... we played the entire game with 1 less player.

And we managed to score 2 goals!

On the first minute of the 2nd half, they scored. 1-2.

We managed to hold the result, until the last 30 seconds, when the star, the player that saved us since the preliminary stages, scored and settled, 1-3 AND WE'RE THE CHAMPIONS OF SOUTH AMERICA!!!

I know this won't sound exciting for everyone that doesn't likes or understand soccer, but this was our history being written in the immortal pages of the sport!

I couldn't just not draw something to celebrate it!

Well, new month, new supporter pictures to draw. We still have a brazilian league to win... right now there's missing 2 matches, and we're on first!

It's time to Set Fire!* (a word gag with the direct translation of the soccer club name, BOTAFOGO)
