Aw!  All she'd have to do is take that woman by the hand, take her to the bookshelves and show her that there are several other copies of the same book on the shelf.  After doing that, she should say, "You were saying?"

She undoubtedly did have a legitimate concern about the censorship issue.  
However, as for taxes paid for the book, she was worried over something that has almost no effect on each taxpayer.

A $35 book divided among 400,000 county taxpayers comes out to be less than 9/1,000 of a penny per taxpayer.
In order for the county residences to notice a dollar or two increase in their taxes, the librarian would have to wheelbarrow every book in the library out to the dumpster.
