Before Nick Wilde met Judy Hopps and turned away from a life of crime, he was "business partners" with a small fennec fox aptly named Finnick. The two went around the city of Zootopia and conned many of it's citizens out of their hard earned monies. The con that seemed to work the most was having Finnick play a baby, toddler, or child and Nick play the father or uncle or caretaker. Finnick always preferred to play a young child, but had to switch it up and play a toddler or baby from time to time to prevent the locals and cops from catching on.
This particular con was to snag some cash from the rich parents at the nicest park in the city. Nick would charm an unsuspecting mother while Finnick would grab the cash from her purse while she was distracted. It was during the school year so Finnick had no choice but to play a toddler as older kids were supposed to be in schools. To sell the bit, Nick convinced him to wear a diaper. A wardrobe choice that the little fennec fox hated, but accepted.
Nick led his 'son' into the park by the paw and they quickly found a seemingly unsuspecting mother and her son playing by one of the park benches. Nick started talking to the lady while Finnick toddled around being cute. Finally, the mother was sufficiently distracted enough for Finnick to make his move. The 'tot' reached in to the lady's purse and grabbed a stack of cash out. Unbeknownst to Finnick, the lady's little boy caught him red handed and ratted him out.
They were busted and Nick knew it. The only way out of the mess now was to give the money back, lightly scold his 'son' in front of the lady, and walk away to try another day. The lady demanded that Finnick give the money back. All he needed to do was give the money back and cutely apologize and the two con artists would get away scot free. Instead, Finnick broke character and refused to give the money back. He even went as far as to hurl expletives at the poor lady and her child.
The situation went from bad to worse with Finnick going rouge. Nick could only think of one way to rectify the situation. Nick got up and snatched the money from Finnick and handed it back to the lady and apologized profusely. He then picked up his 'son', who was still throwing a tantrum over having to give the money back, and brought him to another bench away from the mother and son. The mother could still hear the shouting and cursing coming from the 'toddler' and was starting to get skeptical of the whole situation. Nick got nervous and thought that if they just quickly left that she would report the situation to the cops. He had to act fast to shut up the fennec fox.
So Nick did what his mother would do to him if she ever caught him doing what Finnick was doing when he was a pup. Nick placed Finnick over his lap, pulled the 'toddler's' diaper back, and spanked his bare bottom. Finnick's cursing quickly turned to cries and please to stop. Nick made the spanking realistic for the little fennec fox as to sell it to the mother and son. Eventually the mother and son came by and gave a nod of approval to Nick for correcting his 'son'.
After the spanking concluded, Nick re-diapered the bawling 'tot' and had him apologize to the nice lady. The apology was accepted and the two con artists escaped the law again. When the two got back to the van and out of sight from the mother and son, Finnick complained that Nick didn't have to spank so hard. To which Nick retorted and said that Finnick didn't have to throw such a tantrum to almost get them caught. The two agreed to disagree. Nick hopped in the driver's seat while Finnick changed in the back. Finnick changed back into his street clothes, but kept the diaper on for the rest of the evening so it would be easier to sit down.
