He doesn't like it, but he obeys anyway. Pahom - the guy in green pants - is a "weirdo", that tiny part of the population with "strange ideas" that the rednecks don't understand and therefore hate. The sadistic colonel (the fat one in the cap) is the bandits and thieves who seized power in the country.
