Adrian was once a pretty ordinary anthro lizard, but recently he's become quite different - an hour long breath hold, glowing markings on his body, fins on his tail, and an ability to control small, unintelligent aquatic life. Since he loves swimming, it's all perfect for him! Tonight, he's playing around with some bioluminescent plankton using his controlling ability, making them light up and move around. Not particularly useful, but certainly still impressive!
I wonder how he got all this... Maybe we'll find out tomorrow.
S: It's nighttime in the ocean, but we see some kind of glowing coming from underwater, it was a lizard named Adrian, who looks quite odd for someone his kind, glowing marks all over his body, a fin on his tail and even the ability to control small nonintelligent creatures... as we see him like this, someone comes into view just above him on the surface which adrian seems to notice... a Snivy is on the surface, swimming around and seeming to enjoy himself, they have a pair of goggles that rest on their forehead, just floating in place and enjoying the quiet of the night
L: Adrian decides to greet the snivy, swimming up to the surface a few feet away to hopefully avoid startling them. "Hey there. It's a nice night tonight, huh?"
S: "Whoa!!" the snivy was certainly startled by adrian, but eventually calms down and swims closer to him "Yeah...it's such a beautiful night...so beautiful that i decided to take a nightly swim... hey cool marks...I've never seen that before!"
L: "Thanks, I really like them too! They're actually not natural, believe it or not, a friend put them on me. They gave me a bunch of other stuff too, made me partly aquatic."
S: "Whaaaa???? Wow! That's awesome! I'm jealous...who's this friend of yours? Oh and, what's your name too?"
L: "My friend is Aquarius, he lives under the ocean. And, my name's Adrian, what's yours?"
S: "Aquarius huh? Sounds like an interesting name... and nice to meet you adrian! I'm Carson :)" Carson extends his arm to shake hands with adrian
L: Adrian shakes Carson's hand. "Nice to meet you, Carson! I see you've got some goggles there, were you planning on doing some diving?"
S: "Oh, yeah I was... decided to see what kind of cool stuff lurks underwater at night, I love to swim...it's a great way for me to relax...and honestly this Aquarius character has gotten me a little curious... I wanna meet them!"
L: "They live fairly deep down, in a temple that's not far from here. I could lead you there, but I can't promise Aquarius will be there."
S: "Deep down huh? I don't normally do depths like that, but my curiosity is getting the better of me so, ok sure... I think I'll be able to hold my breath longer enough, my record is about 13 minutes, what's yours? Only asking that because I don't see any gills on ya, heh"
L: "As of Aquarius giving me all this, a solid HOUR! He couldn't give me gills, but this is still plenty!"
S: Carson gasps out of pure shock "An HOUR?!?!? Are you serious?! Ok now I really wanna meet Aquarius! He sounds like the coolest friend ever!" what carson doesn't know is Aquarius is a sea god, who gave adrian those powers because of how effective adrian serves them
L: Adrian is of course fully aware of that, but it entirely slips his mind to tell Carson that. "Yeah, he's awesome! I might be able to convince him to give you a boost too, but honestly I kind of doubt it, it takes a lot to convince him to do stuff like that."
S: "That would definitely be nice, but even if it doesn't happen I'm ok with it, I'm pretty happy with my 13 minute breath hold... maybe I'll be able to do more once I get enough practice... alright, let's do this then... I noticed you aren't wearing goggles, so I'm guessing you can see underwater too"
L: "Yeah, they gave me that too. I can also control really small sealife as well, I'll show you if we happen across any on the way."
S: "What?!? Whoa.... man, I've never in my life been so jealous of something! What are we waiting for? Let's go already! I'm excited!" Carson lowers his goggles over his eyes
L: "Haha, alright, get some deep breaths and we'll head on over to the temple!"
S: "Alright!" Carson closes his eyes for moment and takes some deep calming breaths of air, trying to relax his body as much as possible for the deep dive ahead
L: Adrian waits for Carson, having little reason to prepare in the same way they are.

S: eventually after taking the deep breaths, carson opens his eyes to look at Adrian "Ok, I think I'm ready to go..."
L: "Okay, let's get going!" Adrian takes a single deep breath and dives underwater, waiting for Carson to do the same.
S: Carson takes one big deep breath and holds it, puffing his cheeks up as he dives underwater too, smiling at adrian and giving him a thumbs up
L: Adrian smiles back. "By the way, I can talk clearly underwater too. Anyway, just follow me!" He starts swimming, taking it slow so Carson can keep up.
S: "Wblow!" Carson follows Adrian forward, able to keep up pretty easily, he notices the fin on Adrian's tail and smiles at it "Coblol fblins!"
L: "Ah, forgot to mention those. Thanks! Haven't quite gotten the hang of them yet, but I'm getting there."
S: "Niblce!" Carson let's some bubbles loose from his nostrils as they start to go deeper, he eventually pinches then shut as he keep following adrian
L: After a while, the two divers come across a group of tiny fish. "Oh, these will work for my controlling thing, check this out." He holds out a hand to the fish, and they all immediately gather in front of it.
S: carson's eyes widen "Whoobloa!! Ablwesome!!" he wags his tail as well
L: Adrian smiles and makes the fish swim in a circle around Carson. "It's not particularly useful, but it's certainly impressive, huh?"
S: Carson giggles out some bubbles as the fish circle around him "Uhh ybleah! Ibls amblazing!"
L: "I can bring them with us if you want, it's easy to keep this up. We should keep going though, we've only got so much breath and the temple doesn't have air."
S: "Nblah itbls fiblne... lblets jblust kbleep gbloing, sblhoot thble templble doblesnt havble aiblr? Ybleah leblts go" Carson's face is already a little red
L: "Aquarius can give us some, don't worry. Well, if he's there, anyway..." Adrian continues leading the way to the temple, releasing his control over the group of fish who then quickly swim away.
S: "Well tblhen I rbleally hblopes hbles heblre..." Carson the stops talking to conserve his air as he kicks forward to follow adrian to the temple, hoping it won't be too much longer till they get there
L: It takes another few minutes, but the temple finally comes into view, and Adrian points it out. "That's the place! Not much farther!"
S: "Whbloa! Iblve nblever seblen a rbleal temblple beblfore!" Carson wags his tail, his face more red by now but he can manage a little longer
L: "Glad this is already cool for you! Hopefully Aquarius will be there, that ought to make it even better!"
S: "Yeblah!" as they get closer to the temple, both of them go inside it, carson's tail wagging the whole time as he really really hopes Aquarius will be there, bubbles escaping his mouth
L: Adrian leads Carson deeper into the temple, until they arrive at a fancy-looking set of double doors. "Alright, if he's home, he'll be in here. Quick warning, he's... Kind of intimidating. He kind of freaked me out the first time I saw him."
S: "Hblmm...oblk...thblanks foblr thble wblarning..." by now carson's face is fully red, really hoping Aquarius will be in there so he can get some air
L: Opening the doors, Adrian leads Carson into the room. It looks like it could be a shrine, a pedestal in roughly the middle of the room... And nobody to be found.
S: "Oblh nblo...I doblnt sblee anblything..." Carson grunts for the need to breathe
S: eventually after taking the deep breaths, carson opens his eyes to look at Adrian "Ok, I think I'
L: "It's okay, don't worry." Adrian swims ahead, stopping just above the pedestal. "Aquarius? I know you're not expecting me, but could you come here? I've made a friend that wants to meet you."
A moment after he finishes, a blue light appears near the wall opposite the door, quickly intensifying... And in a flash, the two aren't alone in the room any more; a huge creature is now present, a light blue eel with strips of darker blue on them, 6 eyes, and two tendrils positioned roughly where arms would logically be. It looks at Adrian for a moment, then focuses on Carson. "This'll be them, then... Greetings."
S: "Whoablbl!!!!" Carson is definitely pretty scared of this creature, he was floating next to Adrian as he too hovers above the pedestal, he cowards in fear a bit "H-hbles so...biblg!! Mblama mibla!!"
L: Adrian: "It's okay, he won't hurt you!"
Eel: "Don't be afraid, what Adrian says is true. I'll admit, my avatar does tend to frighten people, and I apologize for that."
S: Carson slowly tries to calm down, his face more red by now, trusting the Eel like creature "S-sblo...ablre yblou....Aquariubls?"
L: Eel: "I am. Adrian must have told you about me, but I get the sense he'd forgotten something."
Adrian: "Right, yeah, forgot to mention: Aquarius is a god!"
S: "Exbluse mble?! A gblod?!?! Whblat?!?" Carson is in even more shock then before, then looks at Adrian "Hbl-hoblw arblre fblriends wblith a gblod!? Hoblw?!?!" Carson covers his mouth for a moment as his need to breathe is getting uncomfortable
L: Adrian: "A long time ago, a ship I was on sank a few miles from here, and back then I couldn't swim. I ended up drowning... But, Aquarius saved me and taught me to swim, and from then on I've been a follower of his."
Aquarius smiles. "Things have gotten quite better for Adrian over these past couple years... Ah, and speaking of helping..." Aquarius holds his tendrils close together, and a large bubble appears between them, which he moves in front of Carson for them to breathe.
S: seeing the bubble, Carson immediately goes over to inhale it, his face going back to normal "Phblew... woblw...I sblee... anbld wblhat exblactly dblo yblou meblan by...folblower?"
L: Adrian: "Pretty much what you'd expect, I work for them, worship them, stuff like that."
Aquarius: "He's quite good at it as well, despite lacking gills. Even before I gave him the blessing he's likely told you of."
L: Adrian: "It is, and I'm not the only one. There's a lot of aquatic people that work for him too!"
Aquarius: "Most are ferals, though there are quite a few anthros as well."
S: "Coblol!!!" Carson smiles happily, in the back of his mind he's considering asking Aquarius if he can try working for him too, but he's way too nervous and scared to actually say it
L: Aquarius: "You know, I wouldn't mind if you were to join my followers... But I wouldn't force you. You have your own interests."
S: "Wblait...ablre yblou foblr rbleal?? I cblould jbloin yblour folbllwers??" Carson's eyes widen at that, his face back to being slightly red from all the talking he's doing
L: Aquarius: "It's entirely up to you, not me. I'd even let someone who couldn't swim join."
Adrian: "He has before, too. Apparently there's a charizard that works for him!"
S: "Hbluh?! Nblow THBLAT I dblont belblieve!! Thblere nblo wblay a chblarizard wblorks foblr yblou!" Carson spends some time to think about his decision
L: Aquarius: "You would be able to change your mind about it later. I'd be disappointed, but I'm not one of those obsessive gods that doesn't let their followers leave."
Adrian watches Carson consider it.
S: after a couple seconds of thinking, carson is making his final decision "Yblow knblow whblat... I'm ibln! I wblanna be oblne of yblour folblowers! It's aboublt tiblme I gblet soblme actblion ibln my calblm liblfe!"
L: "It's okay, don't worry." Adrian swims ahead, stopping just above the pedestal. "Aquarius? I know
L: Aquarius smiles. "Perfect! If you could just settle onto the pedestal for a moment, I'll mark your spirit so the other followers will know you're with me, and you'll recognize them."
Adrian: "It sounds weird, but it doesn't hurt, don't worry."
S: "Ooooblkay?" Carson was clearly a little unsure about it, but shrugs... he kneels down on the pedestal, his face turning a tad bit more red as bubbles escape his now uncovered nose
L: Aquarius holds a tendril above Carson, and a blue light shines from it over Carson's body. They get an odd feeling for a moment, then it passes and the light fades. Looking at Adrian, Carson can now somehow tell they're a follower of Aquarius just by the sight of them.
Aquarius: "There you go, now all my followers will immediately know you're one of them by looking at you."
Adrian: "Yep, I can tell!"
S: "Whbloa... coblol!! I'm sbltill jeblous thblat adblrian hblas an hblour loblng breablth hblold and mbly beblst is onlbly 13 minblutes..."
L: Aquarius: "Well, just like them, prove yourself to me and you might find yourself getting quite the long breath hold someday..."
S: "Thblall be ablwesome...doblt wblorry! I wblont lblet yblou dowbln!! I problmise!"
L: Adrian: "You know, there's actually something I was told to do, and you joining in on that ought to be a good way for you to get started!"
S: "Oblh reblally? Whblat ibls iblt? Iblm inbltrested..." Carson pinches his nose shut again as his face grows more red, a quiet grunt of strain escaping him along with some bubbles
L: Aquarius makes another bubble and passes it to Carson.
Adrian: "I needed to get something from the bottom of a trench, a big pearl. Having someone with me down there for that would be pretty nice!"
S: Carson immediately inhales the bubble, his face back to normal "A tblrench??? I-i dblont knblow iblf I cblan hanbldle thblat..."
L: Adrian: "It's a bit shallow for a trench, I'm pretty sure it'll be fine!"
Aquarius: "I've sent people deeper than that, believe me. You'll have to get used to it."
L: Adrian: "Maybe once we get there you'll start feeling a little better? You'll at least have gotten some time to think about it by then."
Aquarius: "I agree, that would likely help."
S: "I jublst wiblsh I cblould tblalk mblore clblearly liblke yblou gbluys... bublt ybleah, I gbluess we wblill seble onblce I gblet ovbler thblere thblen..."
L: Aquarius: "This IS rather hard to make out... How about this: Once you return with the pearl, I'll enable you to talk clearly underwater."
S: "Foblr reblal!? O-okably thblen! Thblatll be gblreat!!" Carson feels a little better knowing he'll get a reward after he gets the pearl
L: Adrian: "Wow, you're getting that after your first job... I'm kinda jealous!"
Aquarius: "There'll be more to come eventually, but it'll take time. Consider this as you getting part of your upgrade early."
S: "Thblanks aqbluarius! Nblow I'll rbleally be sublre to nblot lblet yblou dblown!!"
L: Aquarius: "Each of you help yourselves to one more bubble before you go. And, I'm sure Adrian can get you both to the trench." He makes another couple bubbles, sending one to Carson and one to Adrian, who inhales his, removing the slight blush he'd gotten.
S: "Thblanks" Carson inhales his bubble too, getting rid of his slight blush too "Lblets do iblt thblen!"
L: Adrian: "Yep, let's get going! Thanks for coming by, Aquarius!" Adrian starts leading Carson back outside. In a moment where neither of them are looking, Aquarius disappears, going back to wherever they're from.
S: Carson pinches his nose shut again "I rbleally wblish tblhere wblas an aiblr pockblet hblere so ibl cblan prbloperly prepablre..."
L: Adrian: "We can just surface, no big deal. It's a fairly long swim to the trench, you'd have to surface along the way anyway."
S: "Welbl, oblk thblen... lblets do thblat thblen...caublse I nbleed a frblesh brbleath foblr thblis"
L: Aquarius smiles. "Perfect! If you could just settle onto the pedestal for a moment, I'll mark you
L: "Alright, we'll head up." Adrian leads Carson back outside, swimming back up toward the surface with them.
S: they both eventually get to the surface and gasp in the air "Ahh...fresh air, that's much better...heh"
L: "Yeah, it's always better than even the bubbles Aquarius makes..."
S: It's gotten cooler now that the night is carrying on, but Carson doesn't mind "Yep, fresh air is always better...hehe"
L: "We'd better get going to that trench, it's getting pretty late. We at least won't have to worry about light, since I'm glowing like this."
S: "Yeah that's true, alright...let's get going I guess" Carson once again closes his eyes to take some deep calming breathes of air, deep down he's pretty nervous to go on his first real job
L: Adrian decides to actually get himself ready with some deep breathing too, just in case it turns out it'll be important.
S: they both keep this up for a while, until adrian seems ready to go...while Carson seems like he's ready, when really he's not
L: "Okay, think I'm about ready, how about you?"
S: "I-i think so...yeah!" Carson acts like he is ready
L: "Alright, let's head for that trench!" Adrian gets one more breath before diving under, waiting for Carson to join him.
S: as Carson was getting ready to dive too, he stops himself...too scared to go back under for the moment
L: Adrian surfaces again after a few seconds. "Are you okay? How come you didn't dive?"
S: "Oh...i-im sorry...it's just that I'm very nervous about my first job and all, and the fact we're going to a trench...it's making me feel uneasy..."
L: "Yeah, I used to be nervous about going really deep too, before Aquarius made me able to hold my breath longer... I can easily get you to the surface again if something happens, don't worry."
S: "Well...yeah I guess you could... but I don't wanna let Aquarius down either, I do have a reward if I end up getting the pearl with you...but I don't know how I'm gonna be able to stay calm, I don't wanna waste energy on swimming down there either"
L: "You could ride me down if you want! That ought to be a lot faster, too, so we won't stay down as long."
S: "Guess that can work ok... but I still don't know how I'm gonna relax during this dive, I don't wanna end up drowning because of how stressed out I am..."
L: "We can try hugging while we're under, that definitely at least couldn't hurt."
S: "Well hugs are known to be warm and great, so... I guess we can try that, I mean technically if I'm holding onto you I'm kinda already hugging you in a way"
L: "Still, actually intending for it to be a hug might help some, you never know."
S: "Yeah...alright, let's try this then... I'll like hold onto you and we try to hug each other that way I guess"
L: "Okay, let's try that." Adrian gives Carson a hug, holding them to his chest.
S: Carson sighs happily and hugs adrian back "I already feel a little better... looks like it's working!"
"Your a pretty good hugger adrian, I approve 1000% hehe"
L: "Heh, thanks! Hopefully this'll be enough to keep you calm even as we go deep down there."
S: "Yeah hopefully, and the fact I'm not gonna be the one doing the swimming should help too..."
L: "Alright, let's get ready again, I think we'll be able to do it this time." Again, Adrian takes deep breaths to get ready.
S: "Alright..." Carson takes some deep calming breathes again as well, this time hoping he can submerge
L: Eventually, Adrian's ready, but since he's still holding Carson he waits for them to let him know they're ready as well.
S: after hugging Adrian for a while, eventually Carson looks up at Adrian with a smile "Alright, I think I'm ready...for real this time"
L: "Okay, one more deep breath!" Adrian gasps and holds his breath, before going underwater slow enough that Carson will have time to do the same.
S: Carson takes one last deep breath and holds it, ready for Adrian to submerge them underwater so they can get going
L: "Alright, we'll head up." Adrian leads Carson back outside, swimming back up toward the surface w
L: Adrian goes fully underwater with Carson, smiling at them. "Glad you've finally managed this!" He starts swimming down, having gotten above the trench while the two were at the surface.
S: Carson smiles back and nods, not wanting to waste any air on talking as he holds onto adrian
L: Adrian keeps going down, passing by the topmost part of the trench and continuing even deeper, swimming fairly quickly thanks to his partially aquatic body.
S: the pressure is getting a little intense to Carson, he whines a little at it, bubbles constantly escaping his mouth as he pinches his nose shut again
L: Adrian seems to have an idea of what's bothering Carson. "Pressure's an issue, huh? It shouldn't get TOO bad, just try to hang in there."
S: Carson whimpers out bubbles as he gets closer to adrian, wanting the pressure to stop
L: "We're getting close to the bottom, just a little longer..." Adrian doesn't seem at all bothered by the water pressure.
S: Carson whimpers louder, he's really bothered by the pressure as he's not used to it, his face already deeply red from all the bubbles he let loose
L: But, thankfully, before much longer, the bottom of the trench becomes visible. "Alright, we're here! Just gotta find that pearl now..."
S: Carson covers his mouth and whines as his face turns fully red, but its hard to see that in the dark as he starts to look around for the pearl
L: Adrian is having trouble seeing as well... He stops for a moment and focuses, closing his eyes as his markings get brighter! With there now being much better lighting, he resumes looking around. "Really glad I figured out I can do that with these..."
S: Carson feels a little better knowing there's more light, but he's still pretty scared, grunting from the need to breathe
L: Knowing Carson's getting low on breath, Adrian quickly swims around the bottom, looking for the pearl and hoping he'll find it soon.
S: Carson looks around too, trying to keep his need to breathe at the back of his head
L: After another minute or so, something shiny becomes visible on the bottom... The pearl! Sure enough, it's pretty big, about the size of Carson's head! "There it is! Come on, let's grab it quick and head back up!"
S: carson's eyes widen at how big this pearl is, he wags his tail for a brief moment before nodding and grabbing the pearl, he grunts more in strain as his face is slowly gonna turn blue
L: "Alright, careful not to drop it, I'm gonna go fast!" Adrian tightens his hold on Carson a bit as he bolts upward, letting his markings dim back to normal again.
S: Carson makes sure to get a good hold on the pearl so he doesn't drop it, he has to use two arms to carry it and he can't pinch his nose shut, which is making more bubbles escape from him
L: Noticing the bubbling, Adrian holds Carson's nose for them with one hand, thankfully not needing to slow down for that since he's only swimming with his legs and tail anyway.
S: Carson looks up at Adrian with a nervous smile as he tries to keep his air in a little longer, trying to reduce the bubbles from his mouth
L: "I gotta ask Aquarius to give me a way to give others my air, I don't like barely being able to help you..."
S: Carson nods in agreement, whimpering as his face slowly turns blue now, pressing his mouth to his shoulder to try and cover it
L: Adrian keeps swimming as fast as he can, hoping it'll be fast enough to get Carson to the surface in time.
S: "Cblant....hblold iblt...anbly lonblger!!!" Carson whimpers and whines as his whole face turns blue, trying everything to minimize the amount of bubbles being let loose
L: Adrian worries that they won't make it in time, but doesn't say that, just continuing to rapidly swim...
S: Carson looks up at Adrian with a nervous expression, hoping they will make it, carson has never drowned before and he doesn't feel like doing it now
L: The surface is finally coming into view, and fairly quickly getting closer. "Hang on just a few more seconds!"
L: Adrian goes fully underwater with Carson, smiling at them. "Glad you've finally managed this!" He
S: "Mmmblbl!!!" Carson was getting really close to inhaling water, but just before it could get bad, the two of them reach the surface and Carson gasps heavily for air, coughing a little too
L: Adrian catches his breath for a moment as well. "Are you okay? That was way too close..."
S: "Hah...hah...yeah I'm ok, I guess... that was way too close for me tho! Glad we made it! And I still have the pearl!" Carson clutches tightly to the pearl, smiling at it
L: "Yeah, nice! Let's head back to Aquarius and hand that in so you get to talk clearly underwater!" Adrian starts swimming back toward the temple with Carson.
S: Carson nods as they both make their way back to the temple after a deep breath, quickly getting back to the temple
L: They both arrive in the same room they'd spoken to Aquarius in before. "Aquarius, we're back with the pearl!"
Aquarius appears in the same blue flash as before, smiling at the two. "Have to admit, that was sooner than I expected."
S: "Loblokie!" Carson holds up the pearl to Aquarius with a big smile on his face
L: Aquarius scoops up the pearl with one of his tendrils, getting a good look at it. With another flash of blue light, it disappears, likely having been sent to wherever Aquarius is when he's not here. "Now, as promised, I'll enable you to talk clearly underwater. Kneel on that pedestal again, please."
S: "Oblh bobly!!! Lblets dblo thblis!!" Carson's tail wags excitingly before he swims over to the pedestal and kneels down on it again, looking up at Aquarius
L: Adrian smiles as he watches.
Aquarius holds their tendrils near Carson, and a blue light shines over the snivy again for a few seconds before he pulls back. "Done. Try talking."
S: Carson nods "Testing...1...2...3! Whoa! It worked! I can talk clearly! Awesome!!!"
L: Adrian: "That's great, yeah! That's gonna make all this way more fun for us!"
S: "Totally! Thank you so much Aquarius! I appreciate this a lot!!"
L: Adrian: "And, Aquarius, I wanted to ask you something... Is there any way you could make me easily able to share air with people?"
Aquarius: "You know, I was thinking it was about time I gave you something more anyway. Sure, that can be what you get."
S: "Oh that's gonna be nice! Hehe!" Carson smiles at the thought of that, his face just a tad bit red
L: Adrian gets onto the pedestal, and Aquarius shines that blue light on him.
Aquarius: "There. You can blow large, fairly durable bubbles when underwater now."
Adrian tries it out, making a bubble about half the size of his head. "Nice, this'll be perfect! Here, Carson!" He grabs the bubble and hands it to Carson.
S: "Aww that's so cool!" Carson takes the bubble and inhales it, his blush going away "That'll definitely help!" then Carson let's out a bubbly yawn, covering his mouth afterward "Jeez...I'm tired...it must be really late by now"
L: Aquarius: "It certainly is. Go have yourselves some rest. I'll contact you in a dream when a time comes that I have need of you again."
Adrian: "Yep, I'll be ready whenever it comes. Come on Carson, let's head out."
S: "Sounds good to me! Thanks again Aquarius!" Carson swims over to give Aquarius a big hug before him and adrian headed out of the temple
L: Aquarius somewhat awkwardly accepts the hug, seemingly not used to that.
Adrian, back outside: "Guess I'll see you some other time, then..."
