Tadashi was once a fearsome samurai, sworn to protect his homeland by slaying every monster that dared to invade. These creatures—shifting masses of black goop, crawling with eyes, mouths, and grasping hands—were born from the darkest corners of human emotion. He was relentless, a beast on the battlefield, and his closest companion through those years of war was Tamaro, a mighty tanuki warrior.
During one mission, Tadashi encountered a child who had been contaminated by the monsters. By all logic, the boy should have transformed into one of them—but something miraculous happened. The child didn’t succumb. Instead, he adapted. Tadashi, sensing something extraordinary, chose not to kill him. Over time, he stopped hunting monsters altogether and devoted himself to watching over the boy, Eisato. Two centuries passed, and Eisato remained unchanged, his body and spirit stable. Eventually, they grew close, fell in love, and became partners—sharing their lives, their home, and their intimacy.
On the other side of his story, Tadashi never knew what became of Tamaro. But when he met Tama and Taro, he felt something familiar in their presence. After digging deeper, he discovered they were fragments of Tamaro’s soul, still lingering in the world. Whenever Tadashi missed his old friend, he would invite Tama and Taro to drink with him, reminiscing about the days when he and Tamaro stood side by side as legendary warriors.
