Thornbyte and Scribblebyte have had an internal tension for a while now. its about proportions, among other things.
Ever since Scribble and I split from Drizzle we've tried really hard to police our expressions of self. Considering our sonas are us (think therian), its no surprise that we've felt so potentially defense about our forms and what we commission them doing...well more so than it would be otherwise
The rise in puritanism, esp when it concerns queer folk,furries, and left leaning people has left us in a pessimistic space.
For a while we've tried to be viably "less gross" in our interests;As a babyfur generally (largely because we felt a need to repress what could be seen as cringe) espically in the context of being a "content creator" online who is intersectionality focused and for whom talking about kink,and politics,and gaming culture are part of how we wanna take up space. which means completely retreating from the shit we've been seeing doesnt really appeal to us for us. but also because of stuff like cub or any kind of taboo but doesnt do real world harm type stuff
Scribble's design being smol happened because a different dragonfriuted headmate with a love for loli encouraged faer not to compromise like Thorn did with her sona and to instead present faerself as they want despite what shade my come of it. Scribble obligated. but there was still something hanging in the air: are we gonna tiptoe around our tabooness or are we gonna treat it more like being a babyfurness (i.e its fine its not everyone jam, but theres no problem here)
There are still growing pains of course, but making a public account on here has been a huge recent step in self acceptance, which we're thankful for despite it happening under less than favorable circumstances (thanks furaffinity). but those circumstances make us wanna be more vocal considering babyfurs generally are being treated like crap. It reminds us alot of that one tumblr post pete buttigeig is just a f**** where the writer reminds the presumably queer reader that: "The people for whom you are folding yourself into smaller and smaller boxes will never see you as anything but a freak. and i very much think this applies to tabbo kink community, espically since a lot of us in this space are queer (we've met more queer loli/shocons since the pandemic started than we used to think even existed). in the realm of ageplay it seems as though there are those that feel their expression or interests are the acceptable form and that other expressions (usually darker or which are uncomfortable) sometimes its if your sona has cub proportions but over our time in the community we've seen folks claiming sexualizing your little space is a step too far.
we want to be a mark of solidarity in the community especially because as much as the abdl community at large are canneries in the coal mine with all these site bans, there are other canaries too. and at the end of the day the folks with power will pedojacket you regardless of you being strictly nonsexual, or you generally bending over backwards to satisfy the pearl clutching.
and so all that is to say, this is some really emotional vent art for us.
