Sonic 20th Anniversary Cake Scupture by SamBacon

, this is what I made first.  Back in 2009, this is the first cake I ever sculpted.  Yes, it's Cream's shoe.  Why I decided to show you now?  It'll be something in the future to compare.  You'll see what I mean in March 9.

I made another cake sculpture afterwards, but that's for later.  Enjoy.

Edit:  For those who are in Japan, it's Cream's 10th anniversary today.  And if you did find my account in Pixiv, you'll see my latest cake (spoilers).

not too bad. When you used the fondont. Did you put a crumbcoat (usually an icing or something) between the cake and the marshmallow coating? or did you put it straight onto the cake? the crumb coat evens it out so you don't get those dips and bumps in the coat :3

Yes, it is fondant and I did use icing to coat the cake first, or at least make the fondant stick to the cake.  Actually, back then, the reason why there are bumps with the fondant is because I put too much icing.  I didn't realized how thin I need to spread it.  Plus, it's my first time and I was self-taught.  Cutting the cake in the shape is the easy part considering I have experience in 3D modeling, and it's similar to it.  It's the other stuff that I have to get use to.  I would like to think I'm good at it, but I don't major in cake decorating nor I have plans to.

*sigh*  I guess I did it because I'm sick and tired of competing with artists.  I thought I would do something different so that I can get away from competition.  However, that will backfire, because I will definitely find another cake artist that will crush my hopes to prove that I'm talented . . . there's nothing I'm good at . . . no matter what . . . I'll always lose in everything . . .
