There was a lot of time between Briar meeting RJ, becoming friends and then realizing they had started to feel a bit more about him. They weren't sure if they would ever feel that way about someone again, especially not so soon... but the joy of that realization was tempered by their insecurity, and firm belief that he couldn't or wouldn't ever feel the same about her. The risk of saying anything was too much. She would rather have him in her life as a friend than not at all. Bury her feelings and try to keep smiling.

This was a commission by the lovely and talented
