Doesn't look like she finished this one (it's not even signed).

That said, this one would've had some significance. My mother did in fact journey from NC to KS (despite what the art suggests, 'Kansas' in fact has two Ss in it) ...a journey that almost got her killed and involved things I cannot post here (with a 'General' rating).
It's no one's business, anyway. ^_^

She was definitely better than me. As I am so fond of saying, I can only draw stick figures and I don't do them very well.

Your art ain't that bad. I've definitely seen worse here, significantly worse. I'm talking about, I didn't even know what the artist was drawing, worse.

I just wanted to be good at SOMETHING. Art wasn't it---I don't know what my talent is, or if I have one at all. I just work with what I have. I complain about it (sure---I've a right to be bitter), but I persevere nonetheless.

We all do our best and put in all the effort we can and then we hit a ceiling, everyone does their best within the limitations imposed upon them by the simple fact that nothing is perfect. Everything can be improved upon, depending on the amount of effort people can and want to put into it. And something else will have to be sacrificed to achieve a certain standard. Such is life. :-)

Misspelling or not this is still an awesome illustration,
I do love the fact that your mother liked to include animals
in her work, especially since she was so good at depicting them. :)
And I'm glad that whatever happened turned didn't go horribly south for her!

Such a representation . I love how hands turn to animals reminding the viewer that we are life just the same as every other animal .
