The life of a naga is a politically delicate affair. While the Naga Lords are no longer in power, the biological compulsion for control and despotic ambition is one of deep concern. Many governments have Overwatch agencies to monitor the behavioral development of young nagas as they grow up and come to terms with their impulses. Offered free therapy, and means for them to exercise their urges ethically in private.
Jadir Cri'tozan was introduced to Darkwitt 10 years ago shortly after he came of age. Many of the employment opportunities presented to nags are heavily regulated; positions with any kind of authority are severely frowned upon, and business owners require significant oversight. Jadir found the restrictions difficult to navigate, Initially he committed to college for anthropological study to delay his employment opportunities until he could better find a direction. By the time he nearly earned his degree, Darkwitt had been scouting the college grounds specifically for nagas. Darkwitt took interest in Jadir when he discovered the naga had found a loophole in their leadership embargo: None of the people who were ensnared by Jadir's influence worshipped or submitted to him. Instead, psychological anaylsis reported all of his friends had significant personality and identity changes upon meeting him. Jadir was not enslaving them, but he controlled nearly everything else to play characters he would invent. Their grades and productivity weren't affected, but it did lead to some friction amidst a few activist groups that called for his expulsion. He was not breaking the law, nor was it enough for naga advocacy groups to concede a violation had occurred. But he was quickly ostracized at his school.
Jadir found Darkwitt's words about the nature of harnessing his 'darker impulses' in a productive manner to be enticing, as his desires for control were not always one for rule, but for building new identities and seeing the ironic twist of who they become, or even become caricatures.
Jadir begun work for Darkwitt managing some of the drones and operations, training to be a conditioner and learning the intricacies of hypnosis to better manage his natural abilities. But early on in his employment, an explosion caused by a martyr of the cult of the white eye robbed him of his eyesight.
After extensive surgery and adjustments, while Jadir is technically blind, his visor transmits data to his brain to give him a form of echolocation, with an onboard artificial intelligence to fill in the remaining information necessary that soundwaves cannot provide. The enhancements also allowed him to tap into projecting said speakers to manipulate hypnotic waves and alter a person's perception of reality.
Doing so allows him to literally vibrate a new existence into a person's mind via narration and hypnotic compulsion. Now the people who have their minds and bodies molded by Jadir feel and perceive all that's described to them, insulating their minds from the real world as long as Jadir wishes.
Now he serves as a local librarian, writing historical documents and better understanding the history of naga kind, hoping to discover how the Naga Lords came to evolve in such a specific way, while also exploring some fictional curiosities and having a handful of thralls to play out his stories so he can workshop them in his leisure hours.
