Just me bitching and moaning, not actual vent art.

For real though, that's me right now and every "forever-wip" file I have archived somewhere in the depths of my PC :') I can't even upload them as unfinished projects because they are either a bunch of stick figures in motion, or barely recognizable characters having incomprensible dialogues in disorganized panels _w_

(Don't be fooled by my crying and trembling pathetic covered in mud and dirt self insert, I'm not seeking approval, it's just a funny face to draw for the occasion xd)

Definitely feel this - it's probably why AI caused such a massive art boom for me. The longer you have to spend on a project, the more emotionally taxing it becomes. 40 hours is like X_X. But when you get something amazing in 4-6 hours it becomes insanely fun again :D. But unfortunately, AI also comes with a lot of hate still :/. But if you only have energy for a sketch, definitely don't jump into a long one :). Sometimes a short burst of creative flow can lead to more flow, though!

Never be afraid to make things sketchy, especially if you want to experiment. if you do a sketchy one now, you can always work on a more refined one in your own time, and you would be surprised... sketchy style work tends to bring in a lot of people because they see you are willing to show your process, and if you do create a refined one later... those people will love it even more and new people will continue to come for both...

My preference is for seeing the whole story vs seeing in full color. Can always go back and color after the fact if the reception of the original version is good enough. If you are feeling up to a full comic in color then go for it but I do love your sketch content a lot and wouldn’t mind sketch only.

If promotion is the biggest concern one option would be to have color thumbnails. Pick a panel you like and make a dedicated single image of the panel to use as a thumbnail. Wouldn’t even need to do it for every page just for panels you really like that you really think will draw people in and get them to check out the other pages.

Full colored thumbnails are clickbait >:v9 (for real though, I'd feel dirty doing that n.n")
As for now, if I may make a comic, I'll probably make it sketchy and greyscaled (goes easy on the eyes), who knows. I have some comic ideas but may be turned into either short animations or full pics (both with the respective story in description).

(Point aside, I actually had in mind your comment from some time ago about my sketches, it gives me enough motivation like you don't imagine ;w;)

Well I can give you one advice.

try to find a middle road.
I tryed several comic projects. Some who are quite simplistic:

And my current one wich is in comparison massive:

One could say I made exactly, what you discribed. Comic with a more scetchy look versus one with a full look.

BUTT there are a few more options!
colored scetch:

Or even Novel or child book style. With text block and artwork!

There you could use better quality, but you don't have to draw like every perfect detail. Half an hour to draw a fancy cup? Or just write down "fancy cup". The last one took far less effort. Of course this aproach is maybe not the most popular one. But you could change to "full comic" mode in important scenes!

https://inkbunny.net/s/2506341

just some more options.

And depending on your comic and stuff, you could for example in blender make some 3D assets and make premade backgrounds, to save some time!
Here the background is in 3D!

Do sketchy, try making them more detailed occasionally, see how speed proves over time.

Why not both?

Make sketch Animations for little ideas and other stuff that goes throu your head.
and make Full animations for deeper things?

I'm still working with the options CSP has to offer for animations, and trust me, I WANT to animate more than ever since I can now actually preview how much time I want a "momentum" to last and edit at will how much I want to stretch/shorten a frame.

If making animations, I'll like them finished, unless is a silly one :P though now that I think about it, for long animations (if I ever decide to invest time on one) I could opt for animatics... hmmm tempting

Know your limits, plan on it being a sketchy comic, but allow yourself the flexibility to spend more time on panels that you feel are more important to the story, or that you otherwise just feel like they deserve the attention

Sketch the whole thing through, with maybe a first page/animation frame in flat colors, for a more eye-catching thumbnail and an impression of the characters to better frame them in that bit of media.

My advice, go for a nice middle ground, a (semi-clean) sketch animatic that hits those key points you want to hit, tells that story you want to tell. As you do so you will find that some points get across with very little motion needed, this allows you to spend more time on the points that needs more frames to get that point, or to make the parts you really want to do better.
You can add color where it will pop and make that impact while keeping the points where its not needed in black and white or with little bits of color (like a characters outline)

Kind of a middle thing maybe?

If it has not a huge impact on the story, make it simplistic.
And certain keypoints in the story are gonna be more fleshed out.
E.g. 2 people start dating and their story progresses in a simplistic style. It comes to the point where they say "I love you" for the first time and that is gonna be a  full color panel.

Just my two cents.

Stast simple and work towards more complex as you master each step, would be my advice... :)
