There has been reports of a new entity roaming around certain deserts. When and where these things came from is beyond us. Not even the local creatures or villagers know much about it and why it now came to surface on the hot sands. The one thing though that they have all said in each interview is that you do not want to be anywhere near it when it starts glowing.
Creepers especially as very few have made it back alive from being near these things as they have said they saw their bretheren burst into flames after being exposes from the entity's glow for too long. Estimated time of exposure before detonation is around ten minutes as the air surrounding the entity grew even more dry in the desert and began to scorch the skin. Hence why creepers suddenly become uncomfortable and burst into flames and detonate prematurely. Once those that hadn't traveled to the desert caught wind of this, none of them dare venture out there anymore out of fear.
The entity itself seems docile to some creatures, but becomes unstable around a few others. This being the case of the villagers that had settled in the desert where very few dare to venture further out of the safety perimeter of their settlements. Some have been reported to have fled from their homes due to an abundance of the entities appearing and a strong heat wave flowed over the horizon.
"It was like nothing anyone has ever seen. A strange brown diamond floating around the dunes. When one of the kids saw it, we played it off as a little game they were playing with the heat causing illusions. Up until the middle of the night a huge explosion happened right outside of town. The chapel was reduced to rubble and one of the iron golems was reduced to nothing but nuggets. After that, everyone went into panic and gathered as much as we could carry. Only then did more appear. I can still hear the ringing those things made when they all started glowing..." ~An interview from one of the survivors.
From a skeleton archer that came from a desert that housed these entites was interviewed after a shootout with Shade and Melissa. It agreed after a stalemate of both sides running out of arrows. "Those diamond creatures of the desert? Never seen them before up until now. They don't seem to pay much attention to skeletons as it seems as it was like I was never there. Even when one bumped into me, it just kept on floating around. I did however take a shot at one of them, and while my arrow landed in its side, it made a piercing electrical noise before trying to located where the arrow came from. But again, despite looking at me, it ignored me."
Asking the local zombie population about said entity had them more puzzled as to what we were talking about. Not even the ones in the desert seemed to have any clue what was going on. Upon long distance observation at night, some zombies roamed the desert with the entity and the results were uncanny. Neither forces seem to pay attention to each other. This provokes the fact that these things do not see or engage with undead creatures. But it still draws the question to what these things are? Are they an ancient form of energy? A magical being in a shell? Or some sort of weapon?
Veronica and Melissa brought in one of the pillagers after he was found burnt and hobbling away from the direction of the desert. He was promised healing and salvation away from the desert if he told us what he knew. "You're asking about those freaky crystal things? You're all insane! Have you seen what those things have done? I've seen electrified creepers before and the explosions that they can cause, these crystals are much worse! I mean look at me. I'm lucky I am alive from the explosion. If I was anywhere closer to the tower when that thing went off, I'm sure I would have been cooked like everyone else was." After this he refused to elaborate further. The panic in his eyes was enough to justify it and we let him go as promised. The other survivors took him in and he's making a recovery.
Endermen were next on the list to interview. We asked the one enderwoman that is obsessed with toying with Shade to see what she could figure out. Unfortunately she came back quickly and huddled in a corner. "Bright..... to... bright..." We tried to snap her out of it but she kept hyperventilating and soon passed out from stress. Whatever light those things emit during the death charge must be too much for endermen to handle. She returned to normal a few days later and asked to never ask of this again before warping somewhere else.
This was becoming vexing and we were getting nowhere on figuring out about these things. Most of what was said is this thing is dangerous, explodes violently, emits a bright light and ringing noise when threatened, increases the temperature friction the longer it is in active detonation, and is causing specific deserts to become uninhabitable to anything it considers, living.
Most of what we originally thought of what it was visually was it was a large diamond shaped thing with levitation properties. What was described by some of its detonation phase is the body splits in half from the top and bottom to reveal a bright white light. And from the skeleton's description when it is hit, it makes electrical noises. I originally thought of putting it down as ancient tech for this documentary.
Until Shade got reckless.
One day she started scouting out in the desert to see if she could find anything else before we called it there and left the area to file the reports. And she did. Shade came back carrying one of those entities with some injuries.
So Kit is making me explain what I did. What had happened was I was exploring the desert these damn diamonds were to see for not only survivors, but any other traces to where the hell these things keep on spawning from. I technically found something involving them.
I found one of those small sandy ravines on accident and ended up tumbling down into what I thought was a tunnel system. Said tunnel was actually a hallway corridor that eroded away. Following down the pathway that I was able to squeeze through led down into an open chamber that was coated in murals and ancient debris.
This was where I thought things were finally going to get unveiled onto what these things were. Sadly though, despite the murals having ancient writings scrawled all over it, neither Kitsuno or I can read it. It either dates back farther back than us or at a later part. And while heading back to investigate further would be ideal, it is also a death sentence.
Cause I wasn't alone in that chamber. There were two of those things in there with me. I guess me hanging around in there woke them up as they both were in a very dormant state underneath the debris. Once they started floating, that was when they stood still and slowly started opening up. Light filled the chamber as they were beginning to go into the warning phase and soon entering detonation phase. I didn't know how long I had but I knew I couldn't outrun them in this mess. So I did the next best thing I could have done, despite it being foolish.
Using my magic, I threw a ball of my own energy into one of them and it ended up staggering in place as it retracts in defense. The other started making the ear piercing noise, which hurt a lot by the way, and it opened up further. Acting quickly, I grabbed some of the broken pieces of debris and started throwing chunks at them.
It was... unphased at this point and started opening up to full detonation phase. The other one started opening up as well and the room quickly got hot. Not wanting to give up myself, mainly because I didn't want to blow up, I grabbed a long metal chunk and charged forth to slam it into the detonating one. This sent it flying and it made sparks when it made contact with the wall.
Immediately I dashed down the hall to try to get out, but at this rate both of them were chasing after me. As a last resort, which potentially buried the chamber, I used my magic to form a wave of fire and quickly turned around to unleash it on them both. This was a mistake as they are stupid fast. Almost caught up to me in mere seconds and I let loose pure energy into them both at point blank.
The one behind the front one gave off sparks and its brown carapace started turning red before I saw the core of it turn orange. I thought this was it as the other one tried to do the same, but the tunnel, as it was eroded sandstone, started crumbling and it fell down on top of the one that was about to detonate. It still did, but the explosion was softened in a way to where I am still alive.
The explosion shot both me and the other diamond out and we went plummeting deeper into the ravine before I landed hard on a pile of sand. The entity slammed again a wall and staggered midair to locate me so it could continue its detonation. As it did, I was already back up on my feet and sprinting my way back out of the ravine. Thankfully with this one I was able to tell how close it was as it was making sparking noise. This saved my life there when I was climbing a sandy mound as I was able to get a good kick into the core to stun it.
And I will get to what the core is a bit. It's not pure light or energy. Its a living thing.
These things may be fast when fully aggravated, but despite it being a flying entity, it doesn't seem to fly that high from the ground. This proved helpful as I took a risk and leapt over a small cliff in my escape. This thing had to take a longer path to catch up, but this bought me a few more seconds in my escape.
There was a cactus that acted as a marker to the entry point of the desert section we took. Unfortunately things was getting very hot where I thought my clothes were gonna catch fire, and that was what happened with the cactus as it burst open. The grass was beginning to smoke and it was next. My ears were hurting real bad as the ringing was intensifying on levels where I think I was getting a very bad case of tinnitus.
The entity seemed to have gotten real pissed at me as not only was it ready to explode with violent remorse, it made some sort of unholy screeching noise and next thing I knew was getting tackled by it. The burning sensation I had on my back from the contact still lingers now, but not as bad if it doesn't get touched.
This was where I made a discovery on this thing and something very specific about the deserts these thing reside in. There's no water.
There was a pond that we marked as a cooling spot should we need to retreat from the desert. Something I made frequent during the day cause the desert is not a place for me or Kitsuno. If it was the middle of a snowy peninsula then it would be better.
Anyways, we landed in the water and as I surfaced and crawled up onto shore to catch my breath, I looked in the water where the diamond was. The glow in it quickly started dimming as the water steamed heavily before it started spasming out for a moment before growing still.
So in the end of that I gave it a few moments to make sure it wasn't faking me out and dove in to retrieve its corpse. I still have no clue what the outer body is as it does not feel natural in any sense. However, the core is a living creature. A very small being that seems to emit a strong presence of energy that it manipulates the shell as a defensive maneuver.
So I rushed here to bring the being for further investigation. Despite my injuries that is.
After scolding my sister a bit for this incident, I thanked her and she was taken to the nearest village with Melissa for medical treatment on her back. I can't fault her wandering off to keep investigating, old habits are hard to kick. I can fault her to almost getting herself killed again. Her luck is gonna run dry one of these days and she knows it.
Now, upon on an attempt of autopsy, this thing is strange as a creature. Almost as if it is some sort of elemental or fairie. It has the body composition of a humanoid in a way, but its eyes are completely blank. This may be because of it being dead. Its skin complexion is a dim grey as well. To the point where it appears like a burnt lightbulb.
The outer shell is smooth to the touch, yet shows no actual indentations of how it connects or how this creature is able to see as there is no indications of visual slots. It could be that this thing is telekinetic in nature and is able to see most living creatures with its abilities.
The only problem is on this study, is that this is a dead one. I am unsure if it is even possible to study one up close without running the risks of it self destructing in the process due to its aggressive measures of self defense. To say that they are worse than creepers is true cause even they steer away from them.
It will be a disaster if these things were to spread to all deserts, or worse, begin wandering away from the deserts. But given that water is a major weakness to them, this may be unlikely. Future studies will come after given the okay from the higher ups.
