Chapter 8
The Mystery Dungeon
A gentle fluttering of wings and we were on the ground light as a feather jumping off of Lofty's back I gave the big bird a nuzzle and thanked him for the ride just before he took off back into the sky turning to the rest of my team as they stretch as Malachi looked up at me ``wow that was a lot of fun riding on Lofty like that but its nice having my paws back on the ground hehe'' he says as a figure steps out of the bush's clad white armor over a black under clothing ``hello are you Linkle Lightwing?'' he asked and I nodded pulling my ID plate from my pocket and showed him ``yes that's me'' I say and he nodded ``good I'm major Yoojin from the Highrule Ranger's let me lead you to our camp'' he says the man was tall very handsome with short black hair he's eyes were a soft green with a blue glow to them he's short ears had a pair of red studs in them
A few moments later we arrived at the camp a number of odd looking motor bikes were parked by a buggy with a trailer next to it a row of six tents were set up along with from the smell was a mess tent ``oh smells like dinner is ready come along Commander Linkle you and your friends must be hungry from your long flight to say we eat well that night would have been an understatement but later that night I meet with major Yoojin it took some time but I was able to convince him to let me and the others join his small teah going into the mystery dungeon the next day so I joined my tam in our tent it was nice and cozy reaching into my backpack I felt something new and pulled it out
In my hand was a glowing note book the cover of the note book had my magic crest on the cover keeping the book closed was a tan looking leather strap with a compass looking charm and what looked to be an anchor looking charm on a leather strap that must have been a book mark lastly was a sliver/blue writing pen sheathed on the spine of the book as I pulled it free a letter slipped free and laded with a heavy thud on my lap ``what is that?'' Rune says as she sniff's the letter and steps back `` well whoever left that those for you they have a strong mana scent to them they must be very powerful items'' chuckling at Rune's words as I opened the letter something heavy landed in my hand looking
down I saw a beautiful cross sitting in my palm the main part of the cross was longer then normal the two arms of the cross were shorter and between the two arms and the main arm of the cross was a flair like that on the face of a compass and to my surprise a small blue gem stone sat in the middle of the cross and lastly was a silver chain that was attached to the top of the cross by a metal loop at the top
As I put the cross around my neck Malachi came over and looked at the cross ``oh wow a Navigators Cross those are really rare'' he says climbing onto my lap and looking up at me with his pretty gold eyes raising on his hind legs placing both paws on my chest and nuzzled the cross and sniffed the chain and his eyes go wide ``oh my that chain is made from mithril'' he says as a window opens and I read navigator's cross rank S item the text says this gives the wearer the title and power of the navigator so you will never be lost it says as I close the window laying back on my sleeping bag looking up at the lantern reaching up I flicked it off snuggling down I felt everyone cuddle up with me as I dreafted off to sleep
The next day I sat in the mess tent with the rangers Yoojin sitting next to me and he had three of the cutest Fey-Kin I had ever seen the three kind of looked like Eevee types one was fire one was water and the other looked to be electric the three little ones were bouncing around asking for food well two of them were doing that the last one was sitting prim and proper kind of by its self moving over a bit I sat next to the little Fey-Kin it didn't seem to pay me no mind leaning over a bit so I was as close to the little cutie as I coed ``hehe hello little one I have never see a Fey-Kin as cute as you before'' I say and the little Fey-Kin jumps little and it finally notes that I was there ``oh oh um....hello'' it say in a very pretty female voice her gold eyes looked me over blushing a little at seeing that I too was a girl I felt Yoojin tap my hand I open it and feel him place some treats in my hand so bringing my hand up and opening it she looked at the treats then at me I gave her a smile then she started eating right out of my hand I then felt Yojin whisper to me ``her names Suirashi I think she likes you Linkle'' he says and I blush
After a bit I was intradoses to the other two who were named Enashi and Raikoshi and the two just fell for me jumping on me giving me licks later that morning I walked with Yoojin as we neared the location of the dungeon we say three figures standing a bit of a ways away from the opening to the dungeon two of the three looked to be twin sheikah girls both with pink rimmed glasses fairly busty as well the last one looked to be human she had short blond hair with some black added in ``oh looks like the rangers are here'' one o the twins says as the other pipes in ``yeah looks like they just sent two rangers'' the other says ``well that is kind of true but the other rangers are back at base camp it just so happens that'' he says clapping me on the shoulder ``that miss Linkle here happens to have experience with theas things called Mystery Dungeons'' he says and I blush ``well its not just me but Team Maelstrom here who taught me everything to know about them'' I says as Mal and Rune both blush casing some giggles from Dielle and Aaron
Next the human holds out her hand ``names Cloud I'm the one who found the Mystery Dungeon I was making a delivery on my scooter when the hill side broke away thankfully I got out of the way in time with a few scratch's on the scooters paint'' she well now he says and the twins node ``its okay Cloudy I'm sure Clemont will just be happy that your okay now Bonnie on the other hand she may be a bit cross with you Cloudy'' after a few minutes of talking to Cloud and the twins they asked me to take some kind of device in with me to record our findings as we walked into the mystery dungeon the name of the place appeared in my vision ``Misty River Dungeon'' I told everyone the name of the place and they looked at me in surprise ``how did you find that out?'' came Rune's voice ``it just showed up in my vision'' I say as the strang device made a beeping chime
pulling it from my belt and holding it by the pistol grip as two small metal arm/wings flipped and moved up to a small flat pad at the top then an image of Rorin And Ronni appeared ``we can answer that its because of miss Linkle's sheikah slate and our RR Module it made a link with her sheikah slate and scents this device was built to gather data and info out in the field it must of picked up some magic data from the mana field with in the dungeon'' Rorin says and Ronni nods ``yes the device must of pulled the name but anyway you lot be careful in there'' Ronni says and cuts the feed as I place the RR Module back on my belt
as we walked we would see a quick glimpse of some of the Fey-Kin that called this Dungeon home we saw mostly water type Fey-Kin and some grass type's as well ``HELP.....HELP'' came a cry from up ahead it sounded small looking back at my team we nodded as one and started to run to the source of the sound we we drew closer the sound of a river reached our ears and the cry's came again ``HEPL PLEAS HELP'' came the cry again looking to my right I saw two shiny Pawmi in the water coming down river fast running to the river bank I dove into the water and started swimming to the little Pawmi's reaching them in no time I wrapped the two cuties in my arms holding them close as they both looked up at me ``who...who are you?'' one asked as I looked down at them ``just a friendly Mystery Dungeon rescuer'' I say as I relied I had no way to get back up on to the river bank ``hay on your left'' came Runes voice as she climb up on my shoulder ``and Mal says I'm the one who rush's in head first without thinking'' she says and I smirk at her ``well looks like we both are Rune so any plan's?'' I say as we go into a new part of the dungeon
after a bit the current was slowing and a beach of sorts came into view side paddling over to it I made my way on shore as Rune jumped off my shoulder I sat down the two little Pawmi's held close to me as they opened thire eyes two sets of blue eyes looked up at me ``you two okay?'' I ask as the two look at each other then back at me ``we..were fine little wet and cold'' one says ``and a little hungry'' the others says as I hear two belly's grumble then mine took that moment to join in then I hear Rune laughing be side us then her stomach joined in and she blushed hard ``hehe okay lets set up camp for now and get something to eat'' I say it didn't take long to set up camp and get a fire going I had stripped down to just my under shirt and panties so my clothing can dry grabbing my food pouch I took out some dried met and veggies as Rune came back with some pale of water ``thanks Rune'' I say as Rune sits next to me along with the twin Pawmi warming up by the fire as I put tne dried met on a little cutting board and a small knife I cut the met into small bits placing it in a small pot with the water then cut up some veggies then grabbing a jar of spices and adding some to the pot ``okay that will do it now for the led and let it simmer''
later after the food was done cooking up I reached into my bag and pulled out a wrapped loaf of bread and unwrapping it and breaking it into a few pieces and placing them in tree bowls before pouring out the stew into them and we dug in Rune loved the taste same for the twin Pawmi after we were done and cleaned up we retired to the tent ware Rune was settled in close to the Pawmi twins to keep them safe as I went back out to stoke the fire I went and gave my gear a once over and thankfully everything was in working order ID plate was working RR Module was working as I beeped signaling that a call as coming in ``Linkle we just got word from Yoojin that you and Rune went missing down a river'' Ronni say's and I nod ``yeah I saw two Pawmi in the river and I just had to go in and save them'' I say as Rorin looks like me a hand on her cheek ``oh my you sound like one of those female hero's from a video game'' she says and I blush ``anyway is thire a way you can get a meaaage to Yoojin and the rest of the team just to let them know that Rune and I are o?'' I ask
after a few moments Ronni nods ``yes we can patch you into Yoojin's ID plate `` she says and I do as se asked next thing I know Yoojin's face appears on my ID plats screen ``Linkle please tell me your okay?'' he asked and I nod ``yeah I'm okay Yoojin Rune and I are safe so are the two Pawmi as well there just sleeping in the tent'' the next morning I was cooking up breakfast for everyone pancakes eggs and shredded potato's the Pawmi twin's starred mouth's agape at the smells ``miss Linkle this smell's amazing what is it?'' one says as the others tummy grumble's'' as Rune giggles ``hehe yeah you two are in for a treat'' she says as I grab some plats and dish out the food as the three dig in my hands go on auto pilot as my mind goes back to what Yoojin and I talked about last night
my eyes were wide and I'm pretty sure my jaw was on the ground ``wait wait a sec Yoojin pleas say that again'' I say and Yoojin nods ``we need to find the heart of this mystery dungeon within a set number of days or the Fey magic's that make up the dungeon will well were not very sure how it happens but we know that the Fey-Kin will go crazy and spill out of the Dungeon and large numbers and may even attack the locale towns'' Yoojin's words range in my ears and mind as I cleaned up camp pulling my journal and used the map charm I had already set up a safe path hopefully the hart of the dungeon was close by maybe just past the next part but the thing that had me worried was a deep violet aura or smoke on the next floor I had used my navigator cross charm around my neck tapping on it and it told me it was a Salazzle's pheromone mist but thankfully I saw a safe path thanks to the navigator cross's magic
later on I found myself and my makeshift team in the lower part of the Dungeon we all sat in a clear saf zone apparently the Salazzle had grown its territory but thankfully our new little Pawmi friends knew of a safe place so we can rest up pulling up my magic holo map and we were so close the way to the bottom floor of the Dungeon was only a few steps away from our hiding place reaching into my backpack I pulled out some food for the four of us to eat munching away my ID plate started bipping digging it out I saw it was Yoojin calling ``hi Yoojin how are you and the other fairing?'' I ask ``hi Linkle so far so good were almost to your floor but its slow going how is it on your end?'' he asked and I filled him in
Moments after I has hanged up with Yoojin I looked at Rune then at the Pawmi twins ``okay Rune you ready'' I ask and Rune nods but blushes ``yeah I am but this is so wired is Yoojin sure this will work?'' she asked and I nod ``yeah it sounds like it will work we just need some of your ice that holds some of your fairy type essences in it that we can melt down add to some cloth them cover or mouth's with the cloth'' I say ``then we can breath in the Salazzle's pheromone mist without'' I say before Rune chimes in ``become more horny then a Pikachu in a thunder storm'' Rune says as she use's powered snow into a small cooking pan I had placed on a heating stone as the snow starts to melt I added in a mana potion within a fw moments the water turned from a pal blue to a vibrant pink dipping the cloth into the water I cut it into strips and tied one on Rune's muzzle then one for each of the Pawmi twins then one for myself
Making our way out of the little cubby hole makeshift makes over our moth's and nose's visibility was low the Salazzle's pheromone mist had grown thicker but thankfully we were close to the passage way by now keeping my hand on the wall helped moments later I felt the opening ``hay Rune I think I found it'' I say as Rune reached out her paw and felt ``yeah I think your right keep going'' she says as I turn into the opening and started walking it didn't take long for the mist to clear as we enter the new room the cloth makes came off and we all took a deep breath of fresh air Rune looked at me with concern in her eyes ``Linkle are you okay?'' she asked me but I didn't hear her I was looking into the new room we were in
The room was round in shape almost like someone had taken an ice cream scoop and hollowed it out the walls were smooth but that was not what had my gaze transfixed maybe it was the massive sky blue mana stone in the center of the room but no I was the two Fey-Kin laying down next to the stone it was a Latias and Latios the Latias lifted its head up and looked right at me next thing I knew the Latias was floating over to me it looked Rune and I up and down eyes glowing for a few moments before going dark ``your not with him can.....can you help me my brother's hurt'' she says and I nod and followed the Latias
Kneeling down next to the Latios looking him over I saw a few injures Rune also looked him over ``wow who ever attacked him really did a number on him'' she says and I look at her after I had fund a few cuts but not really deep a healing potion or two would fix him right up ``what do you mean Rune he only has a few cuts?'' I say and Rune looks at me ``it's his aura it has been damaged somehow'' she placing a paw on the Latios's side I do the same and she was right the flow of mana was off like it had been rearranged or stopped all together getting a healing potion from my back pack I popped the cork as the Latios starts to wake up as I poor the potion on his wounds ``who....who are you'' he says in a low voice as I look at him ``its okay my names Linkle and this is my friend Rune were here to help you who did this to you?'' I say as I hold the bottle of healing potion to the Latios's lips he opens his muzzle and I gently poor the potion in as he drained it he laid back taking a few breath's before his eyes open wide and he started to cough hard after a moment a strange black mass came up and he spate it out onto the ground ``what the hell?'' I say as Rune jumps in front of me and blast's the black mass with an ice beam freezing it solid
After a few moments Latias came over to her brother Coro are you okay?'' she asked and he nod's ``yeah Sky I'm fine thanks to Linkle and Rune's fast work'' Coro says as Sky comes over and hugs Rune and I hard ``thank you both so much for saving my brother'' Sky says and we both hug her back ``any time Sky it's what we at team maelstrom do'' I say as a deep rumbling laughter fills the room turning my head I saw a cloaked figure standing at the entrance to the chamber the person stood tall dressed all in black he's face was hidden in the dark confines of the hood of his cloak ``HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Child you should of just let that sorry excuse of a legendary die now that beautiful Latias on the other hand now she's a treasure to die for'' he says reaching up a hand to his hood and pulling it back reveling a wolf mask adorn in gray's and blue's ``now to you my dear I have to say you and that Vulpix of yours now you two may very well be my next treasure I hunt down''
he says but then a shadow appears next to him it was shorter than him coming up to his chest the new figure reached up a hand to there hood and pulled it back reveling a fox mask in hue's of reds and black ``brother Wolf don't loss sight of our mission Uncle would be most cross if you fail to get the gem'' she says and Brother Wolf nods ``yes your right Sister Fox but still you cant blame me for having a little fun'' he says and reach's behind him and pulls out a long staff like device with some kind of square looking thing at the top next thing I know a snap hiss as a black and crimson mana scythe blade as Wolf started walking towards Sky And Coro
Before he took more than a handful of steps Rune and I stood in his way seeing the two of us standing in his way made Wolf take a step back ``child way do you stand in my way? Way confront me I mean you and your Fey-Kin pet no harm'' he says as I reach to my belt unclipping Dark Repulsor and one of my mana cross bows with a snap my mana blade comes to life the aquamarine blade casting a soft glow contrasting with the dark glow of Brother Wolfs black and crimson glow raising the mana crossbow in my left hand I fired three quick shots in a blinding display of speed and power Wolf spun the Scythe around deflecting my shots like they weren't even there then the next then I know a blast of dark mana sends Rune and I flying back
Regaining my composure I heard a ding sound from in front of me looking up I saw the skill's screen and the skill (My Little One Is The Best) ready key word (I love you) effect's Target of skill gains a 10 Lv power bost effect last for one day I read then something new pops up on the window screen (sub skill Motherly Bond) activates by giving the target a kiss on the forehead effect unlock battle bond with the target of My Little One Is The Best skill can be used once a day ``what!!!! Really? At a time like this'' I say to no one as I see Brother Wolf slowly walking too us looking over I see Rune getting shakily to her paws I knew just looking at her she was not ready to fight this guy scooping Rune up I brote her to my eye level looking her in the eyes ``Rune do..do you trust me?'' I say as Runes eyes grow small ``what kind of question is that Linkle?'' she says then looks behind her seeing Brother Wolf getting closer stocking us like a hunter
As I looked up I saw him coming as Rune looked back at me ``yes I trust you Linkle I trust you with my life'' she says and I nod ``good to hear Rune because'' I say my cheeks blushing red ``I love you Rune'' I say as Runes eyes go as wide as a tea cup saucer before I move in and kiss her on the forehead the blush on Rune's cheek spread to her ears before a magic cycler appeared around us and a bright flash of magic light enveloped us next thing I know the light clears and Rune and I are side by side a strange tall card floating in the air in front of me with a very stylized picture of Rune on it she had some kind of snow white and ice blue colored outfit on it kind of looked like a sheikah kimono outfit with some kind of harness or vest like thing over her kimono along with a pauldron on her left shoulder but the most shocking thing on the card were the two snow white swords floating in the air next to Rune the main body of the to swords were snow white but the blades of the swords were a deep ice blue
Looking down at Rune who looked up at me we both nod Rune closes her eyes as her two new swords appear in the air next to her as Brother Wolf chuckles behind his mask ``hehehe my oh my you two truly are a treasure now but I still have to beat you both to complete my mission'' he says raising his scythe high over head the dark mans blade plush's with power the red color growing brighter ``so with this I say goodbye my two little treasure's'' he says as he swings his weapon ``Fang Of The Blood Wold'' he says ``Snow Moon Fang'' came Runes voice as a white and dark blur mana blast fly's at Wolf pushing his back as Rune lands next to me and we both push the attack
Rune and I moved and attacked as one when Wolf attacked us we would only move a little making the attack miss us by inch's he would try and slash at us and Rune would jump from my back out of the way of the slash and I would follow up with an up words slash forcing Wolf to step back or quickly move his scythe's shaft to block it movement attack dodge block every move we made was elegant almost like a ``like a dance?'' came Runes voice ``what R....Rune how.....how did you know what'' ``you were thinking?'' she says ``easy I'm in your head and you are in mine'' she says as we both evade a new set of strikes by Wolf ``oh and by the way I see now way you asked me to trust you that skill of yours is pretty cool but don't worry I won't say a word to the others''
Rune's word's were a comfort to me as we both jump back ``okay Rune lets finish this'' I say as Elucidator and Dark Repulser start to glow ``yup lets do this'' Rune says as her own sword and long dagger glow as well ``fine lets see if your fancy glow sticks can withstand this'' Wolf says as his scythe glows a dark red ``Blade of the Blood Moon'' Wolf called out ``Snow Moon Cross'' Rune call's out ``Star Burt Blade'' I call out as Rune and I's attack's go off meeting Wolf's attack head on causing a massive explosion as the smoke cleared Wolf stood there then started to laugh ``HAHAHAHAHAHAH ohhhhhh oh my oh my you two truly are special'' he says and looks up to Fox ``Sister Fox were done here open a portal back home'' he says ``Brother no were not done we need that gem for Uncles plan'' Fox says but all Wolf does is look at her ``we were only sent here just in case any of the other's fail and they haven't so were done here Fox'' Wolf says as a dark portal opens close by as the two enter and it closes behind them
Takeing a deep breath as our battle bound wares off the card that was floating by me flutters to the ground but I pick it up before it hits the dirt having a closer look my heart skipped a beat ``R....Rune do you know what this is?'' I ask kneeling down next to her as she loks at the card tilting her head ``um......a playing card? If your going to play poker later Linkle your going to need 51 more cards'' she says and I giver her a look that just screams pleas be serous she looks at me after laughing a little ``no I don't really know what I do know is that it has the strong scent of powerful mana'' she says and I nod ``yes that is true but more so this is a pactio card this is really rare and old the magic's used to make this come from the world of Galar'' I say as Rune looks at me ``Galar?''
I nod at Rune as we sit next to Coro and Sky waiting for the others to get to us ``yeah the world of Galar is a world of magic and magic technology and the Galar royal family's each have a magic style that were closely guarded'' I say holding up the Pactio card then looking at Rune ``but this right here The Pactio Card this style belongs to the Springfield and Redfield family's'' I say as Yoojin and the others show up as Rune and I get up to join them ``but you know Rune I hope to meet someone from the Galar Royal Family's someday but I know that wont happen'' I say as Rune looks at me ``ways that Linkle?'' she says as I look at her ``well that's because Galar disappeared about 20 years ago and as far as I know no one made it out''
