Well, this image has been in the works for a few years now, and I think I'm finally happy with it! This is Penance and Ambrosia, who belong to artists Jim Hardiman and Bullet Soup respectively.
Every year around this time I find myself profoundly longing, wistful, and introspective. I really love Jim's work, and I'm really disappointed I didn't reach out or get to know him. Reflecting on my neglection of friendship within the community and shortcomings as a creative, crushing hopelessness tends to take hold. It so often feels impossible to find time or energy to enjoy comradery among fellows of fandom, and It's really easy to feel like it'll be too late by the time I ever do.
With that, I really hope to become more involved in the fandom again over the next few years. I really miss having drawing and laughing with friends, and the fandom is still very much important to me. You are my friends, and I can't tell you how important your support has been to me over the years - regardless of how anonymous or quiet you might be be. Thank you for just being here :)
Jim's art was among the very first I saw as I began to orbit inwards toward the fandom in the late 90s, along with Doug Winger, Wookiee and a few others. I also recall seeing some of your work in the mix too, early on. Great to see that you're still around - the fandom has changed and evolved a lot over the years but the one thing it has always needed are the voices of those who were around in the early years.

No reason the characters should fade away, I hope more artists use them in their projects, they are pretty much free-use as long as the fans aren't being insulted, and the original creators are given credit too.

Not sure if that should be a restriction, since Jim did more than a few pics of Penance directly insulting/trolling the "fans." After all, both Penance and Ambrosia are "pedo hunters," and both like to insinuate that IB is 'fertile hunting grounds.' Without that aspect, how would they be any different from the lolibears they 'disguise' themselves as?

Actually, if I recall correctly, Penance isn't disguising herself as a loli. What I remember is she's actually a succubus who insulted a powerful demon who put her into the body of a bear cub who had been raped and murdered. Her "penance" is to seek out and remove pedophiles and send them where they belong.
Ambrosia is, as Bullet Soup described her, a dwarf who works for the FBI hunting pedophiles and she uses her body as bait for these pedos. In fact, Bullet Soup collaborated with Jim on a comic in which she does just that.

Those are very nice words to hear. I really aprreciate it. You're always welcome in the fandom. We certainly would love to hear more from you. Even if it's just dropping by to say hi.

Ha. I found Jim's art, oh, well before I should have. Absolutely loved it though and still do today. I miss him. His passing definitely left a void in the fandom.
Great pic.

Oh I remember her, Is LBD his birthday? That makes a lot of sense.
Speaking of artists who we wished we reached out to to make friends with you're one of the ones that got me into drawing a long time ago. I hope you're doing well.
Happy birthday Jim.

Met Jim once through a friend. Very nice guy. Seemed down to earth and had a good laugh about all the sex stuff. He was really nice to me whom at the time was just a very young college student. He was oldschool cool fandom and probably did some of the funniest porn and non-porn pinups you ever saw.
