Tobias certainly wouldn't back down. In his mind these are 'weak' and small women. His lessers. Even if this red panda got the jump on him, maybe it was a trick? Maybe he can quickly gain the upper-hand with pure ferocity?

It could also be low self-esteem. "What!?" You ask. "How could it be low self-esteem?" Low self-esteem tends to make people bully other, so-called, weaker people to make themselves feel better about themselves. Once they get into that destructive cycle, they can't pull themselves out even if they're facing death in a very real way.

We’ve only seen a brief window of his life, maybe the bar fight wasn’t an uncommon occurrence for him? At the very least you could say he fights often, and probably rarely if ever loses. So losing in general isn’t computing to him, much less a woman standing up to him~ :3
