While Peregrine and Wyndham are busy helping the rails of the inner zones, on the western and southern coasts of Mercia, two more canines manage the trains responsible for bringing imported goods and such to the distribution centers of the island.
Pierre the Pug started off when Mercia had one main railway, as a young immigrant from the mainland. He took to it with ease, making himself quite well liked among the cabin crew. During a war that broke out in Eurish, which roped Mercia into it, Pierre was the one making sure the train still operated and helped the engineers as best as he could.
After the war ended, he took on a young apprentice as the Southern Railways was being split into two groups. While his apprentice would stay to work the SR, he went on to manage the GRW (Great Western Railways) line, which took the west coast clear to the north end of the island. He's handled it well, though he's had to make a little outfit accommodation and start barefooting due to health concerns now that he's in his 60s. This seems to have only increased the elderly man's charm among the crew.
The young apprentice who works the SR is Marshall the Dingo, a middle-aged war veteran. Marshall was deployed into a coastal platoon as a young man, responsible for protecting trains like Pierre's. He had become fascinated with the train system ever since, and quickly took to it once the war ended. Marshall's platoon was a barefoot unit due to needing to be on the move constantly, as well as allowed them to keep their feet drier during rest. This habit has been with him for years, even now in his middle aged life.
While Marshall is a bit more brash due to his military time and a chain smoker, he tries his best to be adaptable in social situations.
