Backstory:
Born into an unknown clan in the Black Reach, Lumator was raised with the notion that dragons from the West were the enemies but it wasn’t long until the forces of the Dark Master were washing upon their Eastern shores. Lumator was the lone child to his parents, and was thrust into training at an early age, at 16 he found himself a squire under the command of Commander Jaezred, a well respected and feared shadow dragon. Under the training of Jaezred, Lumator’s strength, elemental ability, and reflexes improved, he was like a son of the commander and he made sure to watch over him, but Lumator earned a few scars on his tail, left hind leg and right side of his neck.
By the age of 21 Lumator was a Lieutenant still under Jaezred’s command but they were dealing with more apes than other dragons, and they continued to push towards the center of their homeland. Posted in the Eroded Slopes Lumator battled the apes as they tried to take the mountains but he eradicated the foul beasts, returning to base he was swiftly assaulted and raped for leaving the mountains, as many believed the Western section had been taken. Fighting the other soldiers left a scar on his left side before his wing and over his shoulder, a few tears in his wings, but his assailants fared worse. Many he left wounded on their chests slashing their sides with his tail and left scars across their faces, Jaezred helped defend him when he was trialed for leaving his post but he left to report the apes were defeated and the mountains were safe. He fought for days until he was found innocent and his assailants were exiled from the Black Reach, but not all would be so great for Lumator.
Several more years in the military he earned his post as Commander as the forces of the apes continued to assault their lands but the young shadow dragon found something was off as many young dragons were being sent off but many never returned, those that did he had to send back home for many were crippled. Returning to the city he found it was not the city but his own clan leader that was sending capable dragons into the battle, realizing this now that the current leader cared little about those they were sending to the front. Once more he fought, but he went against his own clan and family but eventually he lost and was either to spend the rest of his days obedient and fight one or leave. Telling his former Commander now turned General he fled West.
Over the sea and onto foreign land he watched for any dragons that would attack him, but even here on the West the apes were attacking dragons. Was he lied to his entire life and that apes were the true enemies and the dragons over here were misled. Yet Lumator remained undetected for weeks until he came North, leaving him new scars, one over his left eye and a few on his right side, vanishing in the forest after killing his attackers, Lumator hid himself in a cave none seem to know about, yet his fate would be changed during one stormy night. Sitting out letting the rain wash over his scales he watched as the lightning above danced across the sky but a brighter flash caught his attention he soon saw something smoking and falling from the sky. Moving towards where he believed the thing landed he saw it was a dragoness unlike anything he had ever seen and thought she was beautiful, but her eyes showed fear, no doubt he though she believed he was here to kill her. Looking around he saw apes were coming, without hesitation he slaughtered these annoying creatures before taking her to his cave. There he tended to her wounds best he could without healing crystals she noticed the many scars he had. He told her he was a soldier until abandoning his home for his clan leader who cared little for other lives. Saddened by his tale she wished to know more about him. After spending several days under his care Lumator learned her name to by Rhysera and made sure the coast was clear before sending her on her way, with her promising not to mention where he was located.
She returned to the kingdom by foot, nearing the entrance only to be ambushed by apes, the city guards aided her but the swarm awoke a basilisk, while the snake attacked those around it, her cry echoed far enough that Lumator heard it and rushed to her aid. Seeing what was attacking her and the guards, he once more jumped into battle with the serpent sending it back to lick its wound but he was rendered unconscious. The guards would have killed him had Rhysera not returned the gesture in saving him. She spoke to her father and Lord Jorovar who was sorely ashamed of his son’s actions. Speaking to Rhysera they broke the arranged marriage much to her father’s disappointment. They left, taking Lumator back home.
He awoke in a hospital away from his cave and Rhysera next to his side as she made sure his wounds were tended to, after they were healed she introduced him to Queen Aedelais there he told her his tale and wished to once more take up the mantle of a soldier and she agreed to his term as she saw he meant no ill intent against her kingdom. He ignored many soldiers that tried to provoke him, lay blame on him for various deaths, illnesses but he watched as many other dragons threaten Rhysera as well but all were silenced when Princess Hayazeris and Queen Aedelais silenced them, making sure they were punished for uncouth actions. Over the next several years he found himself a nice home away from others, isolating himself but watched as Rhysera became a flight instructor and found himself falling for the wind dragoness.
Though he knew her father wasn’t a fan of him, he asked Aurelios to marry his daughter, vowing to defend her best his abilities could offer and within a few months they were wed. Getting an invitation to Warfang to further her studies, Lumator and his new unified mate left. He had to disguise himself as a saturated fire dragon during his stay in the city, but during their stay they had three eggs, one was black like him, another shared similar hues to Rhysera and her father, and one was a dark blue. They were happy to have a family. For the next few months, they made new friends during their stay, even some old friends from the kingdom, the only time he would show his true colors and their new friends made no report to the guards, he was thankful for. The apes forces continued to be relentless and the dragon army soon found themselves spread out too thin after the years of moving out guarding the other towns, and learning that Gaul, the ape King himself was mobilizing a sizable force towards the city. Frightened that their eggs would not survive the siege Rhysera and many other mothers gathered their eggs from the temple and fled. Guards and templars escorted them out as the city was now under siege.
Weeks passed as they took refuge wherever they could to try and escape the pursuing force. Hiding wherever they could during the night while making the trip to War’s Peak, Lumator watched over the group during the nights. Another group that was coming in from Fire Talon caught up to them, after being chased from their village, combining their groups together, among them were a fire dragoness and an earth dragon, the leader convinced Terracon, the earth dragon and the surviving guards Lumator was a friend and ally. Already having killed dozens of apes with their own escort. Seeing they would not make it to War's Peak with the group of pregnant females and families carrying eggs, Lumator tried what he could to make sure they felt secure during the night while Terracon escorted them during the day, but like he knew they would never reach War’s Peak like this. He watched as Terracon ordered the guards to escort them as he made a last stand,while Amateris handed her eggs to a friend before joining her mate, looking at Rhysera she had tears in her eyes, knowing he wasn’t going to leave them. Heartbroken, she handed their eggs to a friend from their kingdom, telling her to follow the other female to find a better home. Telling her the names she wished for her children, (blank), Cynder and Ragianis. Lumator and Rhysera stood next to the doomed couple as the last line of defence. They battled the immense force of Malefor's force, giving the group time to head towards safety. Earth, fire, wind and shadow tore through the apes, they battled long and fierce but the numbers seemed endless, Terracon took a spear to the chest, many were surprised he stayed aloft, waning from their wounds the four heroic dragon used up whatever strength was left in them and combined their four fury attacks, killing off the rest of the apes and eventually themselves, no bodies fell from the sky that sad, heroic day.
