Welcome to an infocard about the "Man at arms class" in my comic The quest for quests.
There are multiple different meele combat focused classes. Some are highly specific, to a certain weapontype and some are even hybrid classes, wich leans into magic, or archery, or every other reasonable combination with other usefull skills. Like blacksmith, or shoemaking. (Last would be a plattner, making armors.)
The men at arms, is a basic class wich focuses on the lower levels of combat. While having this class, you get an boost on the learn-rate for every meely weapon and also some range weapons, like javelins, bows and crossbows. But only to a certain level. So the men at arm is the "foot soldier" who can use what ever he prefers and becomes better a little bit faster. Those men at arms, where usualy used as a basic meele fighters for adventurers, but also became a handy enchantment for new recruits in the arms. With this enchantment it is less costly, to make a bunch of peasants into low tier soldiers without much effort or focus on special armorment.
Once the fighter got enough exp he was able to choose another class wich might focus on something special.
This artpiece is not only a full representation of Megans full equipment, and a discription about her class. It is also a little present for
I actually really like this idea. Your standard RPG fighter class always kind of baffled me a little, especially at the lowest levels. Kind of like, if you're a trained, seasoned soldier, why are you only good enough to take on rats and goblins? Having a more basic class like this, which can later specialize, feels a lot more believable I think. It's also a nice nod to actual history and the fact that most of your medieval soldiers were just a bunch of guys with about five minutes training and whatever weapons they could get their hands on. I also like the jack-of-all-trades nature of being able to use whatever weapon(s) you like, giving you more versatility so you can find what works best for you and your particular group.
Megan looks pretty badass in that outfit, too. The use of cloth/padded armor is very cool, and it's nice to see that option getting some love, too. Her shield and warharmmer look really good, too, and I love the leg armor and boots. I love, too, that it looks like really actually useful armor and isn't played for sex appeal. (I say this as a devoted fan of the ridiculousness that is the chainmaille bikini, too!) Great work on this, and what a lovely birthday present, too! Thank you so much, dear!

It's so cool to see these info cards for the different classes and to get to learn a little bit more about how they work in-universe. I agree with Megan that it's a nice take on the standard fantasy Fighter class, too, and it feels a bit more versatile, too. Like with Dungeons and Dragons, a Fighter's a Fighter unless you dual/multi-class. (Going by 3rd ed. rules anyway, dunno anything about the new stuff.) But this feels more like it has the potential to be versatile as a class in and of itself. I agree, too, that it's nice to see a female adventurer wearing armor that actually looks practical. Even if we know she's gonna lose it all in three-tenths of a femtosecond after setting foot in the dungeon, it's a nice touch nevertheless.
That's a badass hammer she's got there, too!
There's my beautiful, badass bunny babe! It's so cool to see these info cards for the different cla
Thank you. The weapon is based on the english warhammer, or in german called Rabenschnabel /(eng.: ravenbeak) https://www.outfit4events.de/eur/produkt/6302-englische... It is used with the hammer side to knock down a full armored enemy and with the pointy bit to "poke some holes" into the platearmor, once the enemy is on the ground.

Ah, yeah, I know that one. Also called the bec de corbin in some sources, I think. Like some old AD&D source books, which is how I learned about it. Nasty little weapon, but then, weren't they all?
