Nina Hawkins is a fantastic character and I absolutely adored writing for her. To me, she was a beautifully flawed character who had every reason to be who she was - even if we didn't want her to be and wanted better for her. She was so dynamic that I loved writing the scenes between her and Taylor. It felt like a natural kinship and girl bonding that we get so rarely elsewhere in the book series. I especially loved the fact Nina's entire family history was intrinsically linked to Taylor's and that despite all the bad blood that happened between their families, they managed to form a friendship outside of it. Her part in Taylor's story is over now, but I will forever adore this character and what she brought to the series. Her part may have been small, but her impact continues on through Taylor's life and current/future relationships. Here's a lovely piece commemorating the New Year's on one of my favorite side characters I ever created.
