“Woof! That’s it for this diaper, Mina!” Isabella Yamada said to her daughter, as she rolled up her throughly pottied-in Cushies and threw it in the trash can opposite the bench she was changing her on.
Little Mina just lied there and wiggled a little, waiting on the second half of the change. As expected, it got on without a hitch. Then she started waving at someone behind her as the elder Mongoose slipped a clean diaper under her butt. “Sonic!”
Izzy looked up from the change to see Vanilla Yamato-Azuka pushing her baby up the walkway in his stroller. “Hm? Oh, Nilly! I suppose you and Sonic came out for a little fresh air, too?”
Vanilla giggled lightly. “Well, Kevin took Cream to her first check up and took Kyle along to get school supplies, so I thought ‘Why not?’!”
“Don’t blame you,” Izzy replied, as she taped up her baby. She proceeded to put Mina back in her stroller so Vanilla would have a place to sit.
“Mommy, can Mina and I go play?” Sonic asked.
“In just a few minutes, son,” said Vanilla, “Mommy needs to rest her feet a moment.” The Rabbit faced the mother Mongoose. “He’s bristling with energy. Kev and I noticed it when we adopted him.”
“How long’s it been?” Izzy inquired.
“One year ago this October,” Vanilla answered. “We had to learn how to deal with a baby who can outrun a cruise missile.”
This piqued Izzy’s interest. “Wait, you mean he has super speed?”
Vanilla nodded.
“Mina, too! I’ll never forget the day I found that out.”
“What happened?”
“Well it was back before she could walk,” Izzy explained. “I one morning had to answer the phone. I left her in the walker for fifteen seconds. When I came back, the den looked like a HURRICANE went through it!”
“Golly!” said Vanilla.
“Took me and Arthur almost two days to clean her mess up!”
Vanilla picked up the sound of snickering. Sonic got a laugh out of Izzy’s story, though Mina wasn’t exactly proud to hear it retold. “I don’t think you should laughing at what happened Mina, Sonic,” she said calmly and firmly. “You want me to relate how you met your Uncle Kyle?”
These words immediately made the little Hedgehog go quiet.
“He didn’t want a bath and made a run for it inside the mansion. Kyle’s legs stopped him.”
“Mina’s the opposite,” said Izzy, unintentionally hammering it in. “She loves bath time.”
The shoe was now on the other foot. Sonic sat back and pouted, while Mina got a laugh.
