This should be the standard, actually.

The greatest thing since clean water doesn't have a good ring to it. The greatest thing since cooked meat is a very tall bar to jump.

How about indoor plumbing?  ^_^
MrZero

It's still cold-seat indoor plumbing. No Kilo, you can't have the Bearbics make a hypocaust and a chamberpot seat together. That take forever to heat up and then it's too hot. Sunni can't pee-dance for that long.

Esp. since sliced bread won't be invented for many centuries after the events of the Gummi world come to an end.

From what I have heard tell, back in those days they simply tore chunks of bread off of a loaf.
It's where the term "break bread" came from. They just break and tear pieces off.
They usually dipped the bread pieces in olive oil and eat fish with it.
Or they bake pieces torn off of a loaf in a hearth with cheese, olive oil and spices on it.
By the way...Bread loaves back then were disk shaped.

Modern day pizza was not known back then though...Tomatoes weren't known in Europe until Christopher Columbus and his crew discovered them in the Caribbean in 1492.

They also had this thing called a 'trencher', which was a big slice of unleavened bread that one would use for a plate and was not usually eaten but given as a tip when finished.  (or to the poor)

And even then, they started with a bad reputation because the rich thought the tomatoes were killing them...instead of, you know, the LEAD PLATES they were eating off because the low Ph level of the juice was eating through the lead.

Some of them may have also eaten green tomatoes, which is poisonous unless cooked.

That and the Nightshade thing was also thought to be deadly.

That's interesting. I thought it was because Tomatoes are part of the Nightshade family so everyone thought they were poisonous.

It probably was some of that too - Max Miller goes into greater detail about the history of tomatoes, and I think he did mention something about its relation to Nightshade.

Oh yes! I love Max MIller. I watch him fairly frequently along with Townsends.
