or maybe "Reisen and Sakuya and the beanstalk" would have been a better title (hence the filenames), but i'm a decade too late for that.

warning: don't read this before bed, suikaface.png /will/ haunt your nightmares.

i made this over the course of several months back in 2011. i learned a number of lessons about setting up/executing a project like this when i made the Reisen vs Sakuya comic, and i wanted to try again, but take it even further. i planned the whole thing out and decided every page was gonna be fully colored/shaded, and there would even be some dialogue. it was another donation-based comic and i'm overall happy with how it turned out (aside from...certain panels >.>)

it's incredibly janky and still hurts to look at now, but it was very valuable experience at the time. i had some fun taking the sky from day to dusk to night and fiddling with the color palette in the process.

originally, i had intended for Flandre to show up huge at one point near the end as some kind of plot twist, but i couldn't make it work with the rest of the story. but i decided to reference it with that last picture there >.>

since then, i haven't tried doing another major comic like this one, and there's no way i'd have the time/patience for it nowadays, but every so often, i do sort of want to try it again
