Akavar’s Story

(Warning this involves mature language and drama if you do not like ether of these I have given you a fair warning to stop now if not please enjoy one of my first stories and please no extremely negative comments I will accept positive criticism. Now that I have gotten that out of the way please enjoy the Second installment of this series.)

“Well I’m going to have to start from before you were born as that’s when it all started.”, Aka started. “Like I said before you were born Mom was married to someone else and this person was my real father. He was an English setter named Riley. He and mom got along very well and it was before mom started drinking.”

“AKAVAR RILEY VANHEDIN, GET YOUR LITTLE BUTT OVER HERE!” Kristal shouted at her son.  Looking at him she said “Where were you, I’ve been looking for you for over an hour”
“I’m sowwy mommy I was wif daddy playing a game.” Said Aka, “Am I in twuble?”
“No, you’re not in trouble sweetie I just needed to know where you were because I have a surprise for you.  Since you’re becoming such a big boy you will be starting school soon which means you will be meeting more kits your age.” Kristal said to the little cub.
Aka did not understand what she meant by school but he loved being around others his age and it sounded like fun. “Oh boy” the little cub said while he jumped with excitement “can I go wight now?” he asked.
“Not till next week little mister until then we need to get some stuff for when you start” she said.
2 years later….

“Hay mom when’s dad gunna get home its getting home? I’m getting hungry.” The little cub asked.
“Aka I’m sorry but….. He’s not going to get home tonight.” His mother said.
“Ok when will he get back then?” He asked.
“He’s not…. I’m soooo sorry but he’s not ever coming back.” She told him “He” stumbling on her words trying to tell her son what happened. “He …. He got hit by a car on his way home from work. “She pauses trying to hold back tears. “They said he died as soon as the car hit him and there was nothing they could do.” She finally spat out breaking out in tears grabbing Aka in her arms squeezing him tightly.
Aka couldn’t believe what he was hearing it couldn’t be true he knew his father was strong  and couldn’t die from a stupid car crash he just couldn’t  be dead they were lying it not true he thought to himself.
“I’m so sorry I wish I could have told you something else but I can’t lie to you I’m so sorry” she tried to reinsure him.
“NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!” He said breaking free of his mother and running to his room with tears running down his face.
Aka began barricading himself in his room by moving anything he could in front of his door. As he tried to move his dresser, though being too weak to move it, his door slide open as his mother picked him up and held him tightly.
“I promise you this much I will never leave you, you will always have me right here by your side baby, I’ll never leave you.” She told him between sobs. “Never.”
A few days later…

“Akavar sweetie, it’s time to get ready we have to leave soon.” Kristal said to her son
“No! I’m not going and you can’t make me!” Aka told his mother, making he made his way to the restroom. “I’m staying right here” He said as he slammed the door locking it to make sure his mother couldn’t get in. “This is just a dream, this is just a dream I’m going to wake up any minute he’s going to sitting on my bed when I wake up from this nightmare checking to see if I’m alright. None of this is real I’m just dreaming.” He continued to repeat to himself over and over again.
Aka almost lost in trance didn’t notice the click of the lock as his mother turned the key she kept for just the occasion that this would happen. “Akavar, sweetie, we need to go please do this not only for me but for your father you know he would want you there. She was kneeling down in front of Aka holding his hands trying to get him back to reality. “Please do this for your father if not him please be strong” she tried to spit the words out between sobs, “Please…. be strong for me.” She finished as tears were rolling down her face wildly as she pulled her son in for a hug breaking him out of his trance.
“Okay… I’ll try…” Aka said fighting back the tears to try and make his mother feel he could be strong.
“Thank you sweetie now come on we need to get you ready because you can’t go in your pj’s” she said picking her son up and carrying him to his room to get dressed.
After getting dressed and getting to the funeral home, this Aka felt was the hardest thing to do; they walked inside to get things ready for the viewing. He slowly walked behind his mother waiting for the moment he could leave. Not noticing what was in front of him he bumped into the door leading to the room his father resided in. He hesitated staring at the door he couldn’t move, it was like he was frozen.
Just then Akavar was pounced from behind. Breaking him out of his frozen and vacant stance was his best friend Benjamin.
“Hay bud how you doin.” Benjamin asked holding tightly onto Aka.
Aka, still in his own little world, just stares blankly at him.
“Hay, you ok?” Benjamin asked.
“Huh, what, oh, hay man.” which was the only thing that the little cub could say to his friend.
Ben looked at his friend seeing the heart break in his eyes and knew he didn’t want to be there and defiantly didn’t want to be around the adults and their constant remind of what’s going on.
“Hay come with me” he said dragging aka by his arm. Ben walked up to his mother and asked “Mom can I have the keys to the car?” She knew why he wanted them and handed them over to him saying “you two can stay in there as long as he needs to.”As she let her son run off to the car with keys in hand.
As Benjamin dragged Aka outside and to the car not realizing the tears flowing down his best friends face he rushes to open the door and drags him into the back seat.
“Look at this” he said looking at Aka.
Aka slowly raised his head to notice Benjamin handing him a game boy “What’s this for” he said with a confused look on his face.
“Just turn it on” Benjamin told Aka as he started fumbling with a connector. “It’s your fav.”
“Okay I guess” Aka responded as he did what his friends told him to do.
Much to his surprise it was a game he loved to play and he just realized that his friend had given him his game boy.
After a few hours their parents beginning to worry so they went to check up on them.
“Im gunna beat you.” Benjamin Yelled.
“Oh yeah, try thing” Aka replied.
“Hay, no fair since when did he get that move?”  Ben demanded to know.
“Check the level he’s higher than yours.” Aka said and right as he said that there was a knock on the window and he freaked out.
“Hay, uuummm the funeral is about to start. Sooooo they kind of want you to at least be in the building while its going on they have a basement you can sit in.” One of the adults said to the 2 cubs.
With saddened faces they both put down the game and followed the adult back into the building heading for the basement to find that no one else was down there.
“What’s up with this” one of them managed to say with a confused look.
“Yeah, you two are the only ones that they don’t want up there right now sooo you get the entire area down here to yourselves. See ya.” The adult said rushing up to the funeral.
“This is bull man. Why do we hafta stay down here” Ben said in anger.
“OH GOD, I’m sorry man you know I didn’t mean it, right?” he said as he seen the sadness in Aka’s face.
Aka just stood there trying to fight back the tears.
“Shit” Ben whispered to himself “Uuum, Here lets go sit on the couch.” He suggested.
Aka nodded and slowly followed his friend aiming for the arm of the couch. As they sat down Aka buried his face into the couch’s armrest and started bawling.
“Why” he said into the couch arm. “Why him?”
Ben didn’t know what to do his friend was sitting there grieving and he couldn’t do anything to help. Then out of nowhere he grabbed Aka and pulled him into a tight hug. It was all he could think of. As he held Aka tightly he could feel his shoulder getting wet from tears and the heart beat of his friend.
Aka didn’t know what was going on his world was spinning from everything that was happening and they only thing he could think to do was cry and he needed something but was unsure what. He slowly brought his arms up and lightly hugged Ben back.
They held each other for what seemed like hours until they eased up and looked in each other’s eyes. Locked in gaze they sat there in each other’s arms until Ben took initiative and kissed Aka on the lips. In shock Aka broke the kiss.
“W-w-what w-w-was th-th-that for?” He managed to say.
“I don’t know it just felt like the right thing to do… You dint like it did you… do you hate me now?” Ben said looking away getting ready to leave until he felt and paw strongly grabbing his wrist.
“Please, don’t go. I… I don’t hate you … please stay.” He said shyly to his friend. “I… I kind of liked it.” He continued looking down towards his feet. “Please.”
