Cyclops has 2 eyes, but, because he can not shut the beam down, he must wear a visor to block the blasting. By controls ,app. in his gloves, he can calibrate the beam. His everyday glasses have ruby quartz that the blasting can not penetrate. Just like Superman's X-ray vision can not penetrate lead.
