Another in the current series of "let's experiment with art outside my norm." No worries, I'll be back to my normal thing being posted before too long. But sometimes you just need to take a breather and try something new, right?
And when the opportunity to try something I've been wanting to occurred, I had to jump at it! The mate was working with resin and had a "splash" of resin left over. He was just going to toss it, but I laid claim to it. I had seen artists paint on resin before and wanted to try it.
So, the trick with this is that you paint the back side. Which means you paint the top most layer first instead of the bottom most. And knowing that, I messed up almost instantly on the tail, lol! But I think it worked out for a first attempt! Though not as wild about the water. I wanted it to look like water, but I feel like it just looked messy and unfinished instead. >_<;;;
But that's okay. I love my lil' koi. He currently lives in the bathroom with some other koi decorations.
It was fun though! I'm thinking that I might have to give this another attempt sometime. :)
