I feel like the cub ban in 2010 was just the first crack. Then there were the coverups Dragoneer did with that one artist. I don't know what the hell they're doing. But having been through the demise of Geocities, SheezyArt, and countless other platforms, I've just gotten used to having an out. This fandom has been fragmented beyond comprehension, and it sucks watching it fall apart in real time.

There was always drama, but there's something about how current social media platforms work that rewards people for witch hunts with more engagement. It does seem like that generation of sites (Twitter, Tiktok, Instagram, etc) are on their way out and the internet -might- become a better place again. It's going to take at least a few years for the dust to settle though. We'll see.

On the other hand…the internet as we know it will probably become a far more hostile and restrictive place for certain groups including us, if all the rich and powerful douchebags with huge stakes in it get their way. Worst case scenario is we’ll have to blame stupid shit like Elsagate exposing fetish porn to kids for our ultimate downfall in society.
But then I could be wrong, what do I know about our future after all?
