Outside of the normal canon of the show, I have ideas of my own to do with a Gardener AU.
Loom becomes more and more annoyed with the sheer incompetence of her species and in that frustration calls in a full invasion before it's ready, thus breaking a lot of rules and getting herself in trouble. This also causes the towns folk to learn that aliens are real and that she has been an alien the whole time.
Any amount of confidence she has at finally winning over the humans quickly fades as she realizes her own people also see her as a traitor who broke protocol. She ends up locked in the invasion ship for the time being but Max and the team actually come to rescue her once they get inside. It's more of a diversion on the way to winning the day but the thought counts, and Loom is taken back by how kind humanity can be.
Once Loom is freed, and she helps the team in winning the day for once, she has to now deal with the fact she is an exile of her people. Max meanwhile is loving being correct about aliens and the local hero again, but he does start to feel bad about her too. It takes some time but once she realizes the locals are fine with what she is, small towns do tend to stick together after all, she starts to find a new purpose is helping humans It's kind of funny. Her goal of humanity being her servants and gardeners did come true in a way, just with mutual help from her in other matters.
It did not take long for her to start to be a little casually demanding with Max. He did make the promise to look after her though so he can not complain... Except for heatwaves. She gets real needy in heatwaves.
And let's not forget that according with the intro, Max was the super star of the town, and after Loom arrived, everyone treats him as the crazy guy of the town, so according with your version, Max ends with no compensation and Loom with no redemption.

The info I mention is a small collection of thoughts. The worldbuilding I do for a future story is a lot more in-depth.
Such as Loom helping the humans overcome an invasion from her people as she realizes she is also being fired. And Max becoming a hero of the town by also being one of the people to stop said invasion puts him on good standing. Not to mention the town now know of aliens so he does not look crazy anymore.
