After the blur of waking up in orbit, landing down on Pandora and given a brief summary of the current situation with the Na'vi, being assigned as security detail for a small group of RDA scientists wasn't exactly what Alex had expected. Then again, waking up looking like one of the Na'vi wasn't expected either, so she didn't really complain all that much. Her and the rest of the group she arrived with were escorted to different parts of the building. Most of the soldiers went towards the training area outside while her and two others went to the main research station.
The walk there wasn't exactly long, and she was thankful for that, but it was still long enough for conversations. The two she was with had tried starting multiple conversations with her, but they were shut down rather quickly. She had nothing against them personally, just isn't much of a social person, even back on Earth. Both of them did have to clarify that they are in fact cousins after a rather embarrassing assumption on her end of thinking the two were a couple. They acted way too close in her opinion to be cousins, it was just weird. Though since she never met her own cousins, she just brushed it off as not knowing the dynamic.
Meeting the group of scientists was a different experience all together. They were more friendly compared to most of the soldiers she arrived with. Crystal Maqouy was the one she was told to report to directly. While Alex went to go find Crystal, she briefly heard the other two talking excitedly with another scientist. Turns out those two had another family member here, lucky them. At least she finally learned their names, Mason and Raven Schafer. Crystal was in a wide-open office on the far back side of the research station going through multiple files on her new arrivals. Alex had to knock on the doorframe in order to get her attention.
Pleasantries were exchanged but Alex could still tell that Crystal wasn't exactly happy with having security assigned to her team. Guess there's tension within the RDA as well as with the Na'vi. That didn't sit right with her, but she didn't speak on it. She's just security, nothing more, so best not to get too involved in things that don't concern her. When asked about what she knew of the situation with the Na'vi, Alex just sheepishly shrugged. That had gotten a slightly frustrated sigh out of Crystal. Crystal told Alex to go read up on the files that they currently have before promptly dismissing her. Her reasoning being that she wanted Alex to at least have some knowledge rather than none. It would make working with her team a hell of a lot easier if Alex knew what they were doing anyway. There was a small lounge area so she could read the files in somewhat of a comfortable spot.
That's where Alex found herself still, even after a couple of hours later. Reading through file after file, skimming through most of them if she was being honest. She did have to admit that going through the files gathered on the Na'vi was useful, even if she was starting to get a little bored. But if she had to read one more sentence with the small ass font the scientists insisted on using, she might strangle someone. One file in particular made her furrow her brows in confusion. There was only a picture and hardly any information. Curiosity got the best of her, so she tapped the picture to enlarge it. The image was of a lone Na'vi woman standing in front of an ocean view during what Alex assumed was sunset. She looked different compared to the other Na'vi Alex had read about. Her eyes were a deeper orange, the skin was paler, the tail from what Alex could see was thicker and she appeared to have finned limbs. That was new features Alex hadn't seen, or even read about, before. The Na'vi woman seemed more aquatic to her.
Alex wanted another's opinion on the strange individual, so she got up to go find someone that hopefully wasn't too busy. She found one woman with stark white hair, an unusual trait, sitting at their desk working on God knows what. From what Alex heard, she believed the woman's name was Lilith, another one of the scientists and the one that is related to Mason and Raven.
Lilith looked up when Alex's shadow blocked a bit of the light behind her. She had a raised eyebrow while Alex looked sheepish, again. "Sorry, I know you're busy, but I just have a quick question."
Lilith turned back to her work, and Alex thought that was the end of it before she spoke up after another moment, "Which is."
It wasn't a question. Rather more of a statement that had Alex refraining from snarking back at her. Lilith's tone sounded rude to her, but she brushed it off for now since she was more curious on the Na'vi woman. Turning the data-pad towards Lilith, Alex asked, "Who is she?"
"Hmm?" Lilith looked up from her work to see what Alex had meant. A fond smile appeared when she saw the picture. "Oh. That is Mi'niri."
Alex lowered the data-pad upon seeing Lilith's smile. The way Lilith said the name with such familiarity had her even more interested. 'She knows her. That's intriguing.' Alex brows furrowed as she voices her confusion, "There's not much information on her though. The file doesn't even mention any family, let alone her name."
Lilith shook her head and shrugged. "We haven't been able to get much on her or her tribe, so it's not surprising." she looked back at her work, saved her progress and closed the tab before continuing, "Mi'niri keeps to herself mostly. Hardly ever ventures out of her tribe's village."
"That doesn't explain how you know her name though." Alex said with a raised eyebrow, her tone coming off as accusing.
"You say that as if I know her personally, which I don't." there was an edge in Lilith's voice that had Alex doubting that statement. She turned to walk away while saying, "I only know her name because of Crystal, since she's the one that actually knows her personally. You can ask her more about Mi'niri if you're still interested."
Alex stayed silent after that and watched Lilith exit the station. Though her thoughts were anything but silent. 'Things are about to get interesting.'

It's finally done! Yee!
Fun little piece that wasn't supposed to end up as an oc, but as you can see, I changed my mind and kept her.
Once again, hope you enjoy my terrible story skills xD.
