I spent too long on this but it's done now!
A quiet moment with Cherry and MacCready in Little Lamplight.
Cherry and Mayor MacCready, reading from the only book she managed to snag on her way out of the vault (luckily, it's her favorite). Real ones will know what it is instantly haha.
I hadn't planned what lines she was going to be reading aloud beforehand, and when it came to it, I just flipped open my own copy to right around where she has the pages flipped open to, flipped through the pages until something jumped out at me. This line felt appropriate for this small moment of rest and safety in the big scary wasteland.
I love Watership Down myself, and I first read it when I was around little MacCready's age, but I really thought it would be fitting and relatable to two kids who grew up underground.
