Character Sheet for Heloise Blanchard
Nickname(s)
Echidna, Mother of Beasts
Character Description
Often seen in very formal wear, but will wear casual clothes if she needs to blend in.
Personality
Playful, almost sadistically so. Knows when to be serious when the moment calls for it, however. Her serious tone almost makes her seem like a completely different person.
Likes/Dislikes
Enjoys fine luxuries and being able to play as she pleases, though "play" is subjective depending on who you are. Dislikes being interrupted and seeing innocents suffer ("It's so wasteful!"). Very much hates when others are treated as lesser for things they cannot change.
Background/History
Born a slave's daughter, she was promised to a friend of her owner's at a young age. The only memory she has of her mother is her being held back as she was taken away. The friend was an elderly gentleman who actually treated Heloise well. Gave her nice clothes, fed her well, never raised a hand against her. The only stipulation was that she never tried to leave the house. At the age of 8, the man made her move on Heloise, revealing himself to be a vampire of high standing, who would come to make her his fledgling. Though she has a child's appearance, her childhood truly ended that day.
As his fledgling, Heloise was expected to be at her master's side at all times, though she was advised to never speak, only be seen and not heard. As much as she enjoyed finally being able to go out and see things, the grip her master had on her gave her a foreboding feeling she could not shake. But the years went on, and she obeyed as she needed.
Every vampire of noble standing seems to have a quirk about them: A hobby, a form of dress, a way of acting. Heloise's master was a collector of rare beasts, both of the natural and the supernatural world. Many of which became his own familiars. Being able to bring such vicious beasts to heel was an incredible feat, and it earned him respect among his peers.
Years went on, and as they did, a terrifying realization struck Heloise. Even with all the fine things in her life, even though her master seemed to treat her well enough, it finally dawned on her: She herself was one of her master's beasts in his collection. Even a golden cage is still a cage.
Keeping this desire for freedom in mind, she made her move slowly. She was well endeared to the various beasts her master kept, and slowly but surely, she got them on her side. But just escaping her cage wouldn't be enough. She had to be sure he'd never chase after her.
For all the control her master swayed, he was short sighted. He never would've imagined his servants rising against him. Never would've imagined his prized possession would want anything more than what he gave her. He never saw her attack coming.
With the ingestion of her master's blood, Heloise now was in control of his power, his familiars, and most importantly, her life. But her master's passing would leave a large vacuum of power, and other vampire nobles would move in to take his place. Thankfully, she was well equipped to handle that.
In the present day, she resides in a mansion in New Orleans. She serves mainly as a diplomat and negotiator between vampire clans, dissolving disputes and getting rid of "troublemakers". Her command over her familiars has earned her the moniker "Echidna, Mother of Beasts".
