Well. I am not a fan of artists who draw stuff and then hide it behind a paywall, like patreon or subscribestar or stuff like this. I mean I can relate, that they want to earn a bit from their art. I would also love a bit more support for my comics and artworks here. And I think it's fine to do so, when it's your own original stuff.
But once an artis starts to hide or in general, sell art of famous copyrighted characters, like Krystal, Judy Hopps, or any of those chars, it is actualy illigal, to earn money with it. And artists who do that, I just call faggots. And this is just a reference to southpark. it is nothing homophobic. I could also have written, assholes, thiefs, or anything else there.

or they make specific edits that are hidden behind paywalls, or the "uncensored" versions of their art. Not gonna name anyone, but there is a specific artist I have in mind (charges obscene amounts of money for commissions) that does that. Releases a version of their art to the public, but posts another couple versions to their patreon

I can understand and support your stance on paywalling rule 34 content. If you don’t own it you shouldn’t be selling it. That said I don’t understand why you are against paywall sites in general. I personally believe if you put in the effort to learn to draw and you take the time out of your day to draw, then that is time and effort you could have spent doing anything else. Likewise if an artist isn’t making enough money to draw full time and they have to work a “real” job then that is time and energy they can never spend on making art.
I believe that if you are spending time and energy to draw that could have been spent being employed that you have every right to try to monetize your work any stupid way you think will work. I also believe that if you are reasonable in how you monetize your work that it’s BETTER for non-paying followers as the time an artist could have spent working a job can be spent making art, subsidized by the people who do pay to get it early. Even if we get it a bit later it’s still often more content than if they had to make money with a traditional job.

I never said I am against paywall sides. I have my own Patreon Account, wich is basicly useless, because noone is willing to donate for something they will get for free anyway. But that's a different topic.
What I was saying is, that stealing copyrighted chars, forcing them into sexual pictures and THEN charging money for it, is a dick move. If I would hide my botgg of TQFQ behind Patreon it would be okay. If it's a clever move is once again, a different topic.

"because noone is willing to donate for something they will get for free anyway" you make 5000Cad or 3,630 roughly a mouth USD on patreon. I Wouldn't say maybe no one is donating. I don't mean disrespect. I will still listen to your side to understand. It just feels incorrect what you are saying.

Well, it's a good suggestion, but 9$ is a bit closer to reality. https://www.patreon.com/ZaiksMcKraven And 2 donators in comparison to 2,5K followers, IS under 0.1% so I would call this "basicly noone"

I wish I would earn that much over Patreon. Then I would have a better life by now. But I want to earn it honestly, and not by paywalls and stuff. I don't even advertise to my patreon on payed comissions, because, those pics are already payed. Would feel wrong to even ask for donations on those ones.

I thought "parodies" (adult parodies in this case) are allowed to be made and monetized? (Though a good chance of being nuked from orbit by corporate).

I remember the internet before patreon and the rest of the shait walls. Free flow of information. Now you cant even tell if you have an artist's works cause its all over the place, some released here, some released there, some behind paywall, some without it.
Even back then there was this special class of mentally impaired clowns who never understood just how much advertisement it poses for them to have their art up on imageboards like e621. How the ever loving gripe do you expect work from people if nobody knows about you? But no no no, some fought tooth and nail to have their sh*t completely wiped from everywhere except from their own site, and unironically: They have been lost and forgotten within months.
If you created it, its yours. I dont dispute the artist's rights over their work, but more than just one or two of these people used their ownership and narcissism fetish to end their own source of income. Then again.. i guess its darwinism. The mentally impaired fall first.

I was around BEFORE Google and the internet! back in the day it was BBS's (Buleton Board Services) that we would post to as well as TG' sites (Thumbnail Gallery posts) for mages. we are talking when dinosaurs walked the earth, ya know... Dile up! 300 baud acustic coupling modems the we got built in 1200/2400 Baud modems and they were comparably "lightning fast." heck my first IMSAI comp had a paper tape optical reader to load the OS on start up! talk about Dino days and "D-Net"! heh good times. --GF

yup... "The Good old days" had a lot going for them, but despite the hassles of so-called modern life (think each advance removes just a little more privacy and personal freedom) the advances in medical tech alone has kept me above the grass, so I'll take it. the takeaway from this should be "Enjoy the Life you Live, for it is Yours to do with it what you will. so live your best life with as few regrets as possible." --GF
