The first people to live here said it looks like those shelled reptiles
Modern measurements say the turtle spans five thousand miles
Head and front flippers swim through the icy waters of the North
Into the Southern tropic region a great tail issues forth
Although real sea turtles don't have such long tails, the symbol stands
We should hold more respect for the native people of these lands
If this continent is a turtle, what would that make Fishtail?
A remora so tiny the mainland looks like a blue whale?
And what of Bearhead Island, the largest by area on Earth?
The smallest true continent's like thrice its size, for what that's worth.
I know of a point where many faiths and science have converged
That "in the beginning" the entire world was submerged
It was later dry land emerged from the primordial sea
Even more universal than a world turtle or world tree
The turtle, a common thread the people of the Ganges share
With those mistaken for them by explorers who did not care.
My kin arrived much later, 'cross a vast ocean of water
Although already here there lives another kind of otter.
Too large to be called an island is this turtle shaped landmass
For proper credit to first nations the time has come to pass
I declare the following in peace with no intent to clash
As a dweller of the Turtle Continent Signed, Lutran, Splash.
