After a long hiatus struggling with art block and some other difficulties, I have managed to pull out another episode of my comic. This time with a little more worldbuilding background on the engineering-oriented Ridgelonian species.

But now I'm undecided about it. The last panel originally said "don't fuck with us", The punchline worked a lot better, but I never use profanity in my comic. So I have been struggling with alternatives. I left it at "don't mess". It's basically the same story, but I think it doesn't have the same impact. What do y'all think?

I don't think "don't fuck with us" would have granted any more or less impact, it works perfectly fine as is!

Thanks. I thought it was kind of funnier if she used a word that sounds off-character for her usually calm and logical personality.

I plan to use the concept again when Pinton finally gets a new spaceship. The engines will have openings at both ends, propulsion in the back, and breaking/weapon in the front.

"Don't mess with us." works just fine. Her description of how they fight invaders has enough impact on its own.

Yeah, It's technically the same. But the strong language made it funny in my opinion.
Then again, vulgar language is often an excuse for poor writing.

I tried to give the new Star Trek series a chance to gain my favor, but I turned it off when they said "fuck" in the show. Not because the profanity bothers me, but because the show it's so awfully written it insults my intelligence and made the cringe meter do a few spins. They practically broke the fourth wall there with the character saying "oh, can I say fuck here" and the other answering "yeah, it's ok" (not the exact dialogue but the scene was basically that)

Yeah that sounds completely lame, thanks for the heads up. You know, I could maybe see young Kirk using it once or twice in the reboot movies because it fits his brash personality. But if it even remotely feels like it was written in there for a shock factor I would feel insulted.
